I'll have to watch the progress of all these Golfs and see what transpires.

I've owned a mk1, lovely little car but not very well refined, had the mk2 on the road before making it into the tracktoy, great handling car through the twisty bits, just needed that extra bit of pace on the straights, thats where the 1.8t would come in handy. Now driving a VR6 as my daily driver, lovely sounding engine but not the handling like the mk2, and quite heavy on juice aswell!!

pga golf update :
today has been spent trying to get the car ready for santa pod on sunday, there is a little list of jobs, first to do was power steering belt and alternator belt, not a difficult job and now i have permanent power steering :D rather than squeeks and notchy steering every now and again. work out a horrible noise from the rear , another simple job , rear hub nut was too loose , so a couple of turns and a splitpin all is good
also planned a coolant flush as its brown and horrible but did not get that far due to fitting these bloody bbs wheels :love2:
well there on :
some crappy quality rushed photos on the phone

but there not drivable as it rubs quite bad so a bit of camber to be applied to the fronts and more angle grinder for the rear so thats the plan for tomorrow
a plus side is the car has goodrige steel hoses all round that i didnt know about

better give it a wash aswell i guess as i'v not actually cleaned it yet :o

Looks superb Trev, Mk2's are the best looking Gti, in my opinion anyway.

I'd agree Rob, but you should have seen Trev's face, every time he saw a mkI with a cage and 20v turbo in it. He was like a small child. (With money burning a hole in his pocket)

It was nice to see other peoples reaction to his car at the weekend. I think Trev would admit that his car is nothing wildly out of the ordinary; just well chosen, carefully blended items that when mixed, have produced a really solid mkII. The amount of double takes the Golf got at a show filled, and I do mean brimming, with top level cars was unreal.
