made a bit of progress on the golf lately
the inside is nearly done , cage is all welded in, box section welded in and seat mounted all harness hoops are in for the 5 point sabelts, still got to get most of the bloody dreaded sound proofing black stuff up, iv only cleared the areas that required welding but its getting there

wheels fit and clear the brakes which is a relief (and without spacers)
but i need to do a bit of arch work
Image
i think i might need the wide arches sooner than later
Image

a few other things have also been done like spray the drivers door ,its not fitted yet and the polycarb has been fitted in this one and am happy with it ( air vents on order for the windows )
stainless bonnet pins fitted
bailey alloy header tank fitted

all i need is a battery and it will be ok to use with the stock engine and hopefully will be used at the shakedown sprint at honnington on 1st march ( fingers crossed with the new engine and box  )

and a random pic with major front camber and unclean

been busy on the car today and all the black soundproof tar like stuff has gone , i did'nt use the dry ice method but the blow torch method and it was a breeze , in total the black stuff weighed 9kgs :o i didnt realise how much it weighed , tommorow will be spent with white spirits to clean it up then prime and a coat of satin black.

i got a welder for xmas and got to grips with it welding in the plates for the cage
Image

the rear plates (first ones i did) dont look quite so pretty but its well penetrated etc so sure they will be ok.

really wondering how its going to handle as the rear end is so light, you can lift and hold the rear wheel of the ground with one hand :o
pick up the new engine/box/ecu and loom this saturday but wont be fitted just yet as i still need a set of r1 carbs/ maifold conversion/ 100mm driveshafts from a cabriolet, fpr and pump
cant wait for that bit and would love it in place for honnington but not going to happen i dont think

its getting there :-D

Now doesn't that look sweet :D

Well done Trev, the engine will make that fly (cams or not) and with your banzai approach it should be a real giggle to watch. Remember these go up on three wheels easily with standard power and standard drivers
