Loved it but Bart really scared the living s**t out of me. It's such a complex track with every kind of bend you can think of. Next time we go and we will it will be as part of a BP trip.
You could so easily spend the whole time there driving the ring and then socialising on the night, the perfect miny break

P.S
How do you put up full length vidoes as we have 2 from the ring but can only put up 5 min. clips.

As the car is currently running ok and nothing major is broken or needs working on Alan decided to sort through some of the original Janspeed manifolds, pleniums and intercooler pipework that we have lying about.

He wanted to fit something original to the engine mainly the intercooler pipes, unfortunately the pipework that we have came off a Janspeed Capri so was slightly different :(

For those of you who know Alan (Bart) you'll know that this wouldn't stop him. So out came his trusty and rusty toolbox, and this is the end result :-D

Tyres and Lap Times

Post by pablo »

For the first time we were able to run with both our wet and dry tyres on the same day. This was at Rockingham last month. We use Uniroyal Rainsport1 205/45/16 (wet) and Kumho KU15 MX 205/40/17 (dry).
These are our lap times, relative conditions and tyres used

Session 1....Wet - Uniroyals - 2' 05"
Session 2....Damp - Kumho's - 2' 07"
Session 3....Dry - Kumho's - 1' 59"

Our current set up with a slightly softer front end is more suited to wet conditions and these comparative lap times have confirmed that.
As we now have to make another front spitter following our recent rabbit incident :(

It may be the perfect time to look at re-designing it. Following that it's time to upgrade the old and tired suspension

Our latest crazy idea is whether or not we can make our rear wing flexiable at speed. The old front splitter use to flex at speed which gave the car great stability at high speeds. In order to maintain our high speed stability with a flexing rear wing we would need to incorporate our second idea. A functioning rear diffuser :o .
Time to get the beers out and Alan's power tools......oh dear

Finally got round to replacing the broken front splitter
Due to having a busy day we started making the replacement this evening.
It has slightly different design to the original one in that it is slightly narrower and also has a channel to improve air flow under the car.
The hope is to maintain the downforce we had but reduce the turbulant air around the splitter

We will give a good test next week at Donnington and then compare our findings to the original splitter.

Canards

Post by pablo »

In order to be able to run cooler air temps. we need to use Alan's second bumper design. However we are not able to fit a splitter to this. So after looking at some pictures of various cars we decided upon canards.

Time to call in AJT Fabrications (aka Blue Peter - aka Bart)

As we do not have the resources of a F1 team, Team TNT have learned to improvise  .

Classic mate :thumb:

Al's attitude and application is always impressive. Funny as anything the way he's puffing that fag over it.

Did a test fit of the new bumper and canards today. Still have to paint the canards but we're happy with how it looks.

You just need to paint the whole car satin black now and you'll be laughing :thumb:
