Project GTR (zed replacement)
Lucky on the return on the mirrors mate. Good heads up to be a bit more vigilant for a while. BMW owners can be dodgy lol.

Well it's either a lesson to be more vigilent or one not to get completely hammered when also taking home new purchases for your toy
Trev, I agree, I've also left my laptop on the train before more than once and got it back. Saying that, a colleague did the same and got fired cos it had client data on it....
Pablo, it's a valid point and got me thinking but they were sent to my office.
Met the guy when i collected the mirrors - he works just round the corner from me in the city. Absolutely top lad, has run E30s in the Khumo Bee Em championship and also another that I can't remember. He also has a share in BMW tuning/race prep business in, I think he said, Yorkshire. I want to say BMD but googled that and didn't come up with anything. Have txt him to find out.
He said my mirrors nearly got blown up cos everyone was scared of the the unattended parcel, then he opened it and the first thing they say were the wires so thought it was a bomb:rolleyes:

A few other jobs done today:
Some heat reflecive stuff put under the bonnet to try and stop the paint cracking up - it's already going as it gets so hot above the turbo pipes. Bit annoying but the paint job was pretty shit to start with, might explain why it was so thick with primer and paint before though.
New rear wheel bearings went in.
But it would appear that the "wobbliness" was (aswell as the bearings now being totally shot) that all the rose joints on the rear suspension arms have all got play in them which i'm a bit pissed off about.
Eagle Eyed readers will know that o/s the upper arm rose joint snapped on the M6 as I drove the car back from Blackpool when i bought it, nearly pitching me into the armco. I then bent one of the steering arms by lowering the ramp and it was hanging down...
So my point being, all the rose joints were new 2 years ago and the cars not really had any use, literally only track work, so i'm surprised these have gone so quickly.
Would that be normal? Is there any type specifically that I should buy that are more durable?
I was wondering about going back to std set up but with Super Pro bushes but think it might limit my camber options etc.
Anyone got any ideas?
Also lowered the rear down by 10mm but think I'm going to drop it more before it's alligned

Rose joints on my grasser wear very quickly they were not very old when I brought it and changed a few since then remember they are metal on metal not many moving parts normally are most have grease, oil or rubber between them.

" Uh Betty you should of seen this car in Ely today!! it had stickers and stripes
all over it, and when it started up, the noise!!!, I could feel my teeth rattling!!!"

So the rear end looseness takes an unexpectedly complicated turn. It transpires the reason my Hicas remove steering arm bar rose joints were wearing out is becasue I still have the stock ball joint in the hub. I'm still not sure why this ishould be but on the advice of various people inc Ron @ RK I'm binning my set and ordered a DW full Hicas Elimination kit.
Also had trouble getting decent rose joints for the top and bottom arms as they're metric so only stuff listed on merlin/Demon Tweeks is "economy" as the race cars all use imperial. As I'm looking for longevity Merlin ordered me some special order metric rose joints which should arrive tomorrow but I dont even want to repeat what 4 of these cost for what are such small boxes to open when they arrive
My camber bolts and washers were also shot and it transpired that Nissan want

Got most of the jobs done on the GTR yesterday. All the new rose joints are on, as is the DW Hicas Delete kit, jsut waiting for 2 camber washers from Nissan (none in the country). Saying that, having attached everything else I'm not convinced I need them as the camber can be adjust in loads of other places. Doh.
Also dropped the back down a bit and I think it sits a lot better now. Just the alignment to go and back out to play.
Some pics
Ron at RK suggested heating the old Ball joints up and then bashing them out which turned out to be a good suggestion, popped out a treat

Also amusing as they burned, this pics not great but the other side was proper flaming up, couldn't grab my phone in time...

here's the dw kit on the bench

and on the car
