TNT Racing XR4x4 - Time Attack 2009
One step forward Two steps back
Finally looked as if we were getting on top of our recent problems so had decided to use the car everyday just to make sure that everything was working as it should. Yesterday went without a hitch took the car out 3 times.
Went to pop over to see Alan this morning and when I started the car up.....smoke out the exhaust :x . This time it was blue and smelt of oil
Left the car running for a couple of minutes and the smoke cleared a quick phone call to Al and he suggested I check the catch can as he knew the oil level was slightly high. When I took the catch can off if felt full but sloshy :? when I emptied it I realised that we had not emptied it after blowing the head gasket last week . It was full of oil, water and mayo
Cleaned it out and refitted it then took the car out, no smoke
Take two and off I went to see Alan to drop some car bits over as I exited the motorway the car spluttered then shortly after spluttered a bit more then just died, as I hit the hazzard warning button and checked all the gauges I noticed quite a bit of smoke was coming from behind the dashboard. Talk about panic grabbed the fire extinguisher jumped out the car, still in traffic, lifted the bonnet no smoke but by this time the inside of the car was filling with smoke. Opened the passenger door ready to discharge the extinguisher then I noticed that the smoke was dying out so waited......
Part of the wiring loom behind the dash had melted.....No idea why.

Before anyone says it No the furry dash didn't catch fire
