There are very varying grades of spirit level available. Engineer's box level's are very precisely machined.

Steel rules have a tendency to flex. Very rigid in their height but quite flimsy across their width. More suitable, and maybe what you have in mind is an engineer's straight edge. These are actually designed and made for the purpose of offering a straight edge. Much thicker than a measuring rules and have one edge tapered, on one side. Generally a metre in length and nothing like a flimsy rule, by comparison.

BTW a piece of string is actually straighter than a rule.

As a rule. :-D

cleaned up and been fitted back on and the hole engine is back together :-D

ive just got to wait till tomorow now to fire her up as some of the

after taking the manifolds off some exhaust paste went into the cross over pipe
so out came pablo's vaccume to suck it all out

It really should be Alan who is putting this up but he has to rush off....After a lot of problems with the timimng / dizzy the battery went flat  Quick thinking he linked 2 sets of jump leads together so that he could jump start it from my Frontera which was parked behind it. Finally herbie spluttered into life :-D . The car was left running for about 30 mintues and everything seems ok. Just got to take it out for a little drive later and then tomorrow morning it's off to the dyno centre to be checked over and set up ready for saturady.....fingers crossed.
