Steven - looks like a nice list there :thumb:

My project is coming along but still loads to do:

Being done for me in the next week:

1. re-install engine
2. fit FMIC
3. fit clutch
4. fit turbo

I am hoping that by the end of next week I can go pick it up and start a long drive back from Nottingham to get most of the running in done in one go :D

Then onto the job of mapping it.. this will be fun as the turbo will no longer run out of puff at higher revs like before so I will have a lot more headroom to play with but also a lot more of the map to do as it all needs rescaling to suit the greater potential. I will be taking it very slow and steady on this step as I do not want to kill it.

Asides from this:

1. fit front splitter and undertray
2. make rear diffuser more effective
3. fit canards
4. get some tyres
5. change brake fluid
6. fit brake ducts
7. fit roll cage
8. fit second harness
9. oil change
10. fuel swirl pot and additional fuel pump
11. fit oil cooler
12. relocate suspension pickup points to enable the car to be dropped down another inch
13. suspension geometry
14. new graphics package to promote sponsors

Still quite a bit .... and time is ticking.

Shake down will be at Snetterton on the 27th March. I thought a very familiar circuit would be good for this as I will be able to tell the improvements made have actually improved things.

Sump Baffle

Post by duncan »

After much brow beating and debating over what to do with baffles for the engine I have decided on:

Cosworth Sump Tray - more of a windage tray than baffle

My research has shown:

1. The STi 06 sump is of a very different design to the earlier ones where excessive surge seemed to be an issue. The 06 STi/Spec C sump is narrower and suffers less (but still can suffer)

2. The surge in the 06 sump causes excess breathing more than anything else.

3. It is not possible to totally cure oil surge with a 'wet' sump so anything will looking to improve a flawed design.

I have the re-circulating catch can that is plumbed to drain back to the sump so the breathing issue is 'accommodated' by this and the negative affect of the oil not being in the sump is reduced because it makes it way back to the sump soon enough.

The Cosworth tray reduces the splashing and subsequent cavitation but short of spending
