Pure comedy today, in brief I thought I'd stick the BMC filter on, and maybe swap the airbox while I'm at it.
I was greeted by the lop-sided lid, with part of the existing paper filter poking out of the lid.
I whipped the two securing screws out, and disconnected the pipework, to be presented with what looked like the perfect setting for a miniature barn dance!
I reckon the guy Stu got it from must have driven it through a corn field at some point, as there was corn, grass and leaves in the airbox.
The filter had clearly seen better days, and I spent a couple of minutes hoovering the box out before slapping the shiny, freshly cleaned and oiled panel in.
Defeated by the small matter of not having a 10mm socket, I could nt remove the airbox, so that'll wait till tomorrow, but it does sound and feel better. Part throttle is smoother and more responsive, not entirely surprising considering it must have been like trying to suck air through concrete before:)
I've also been busy ordering parts for its service.
Plugs, oil, oil filter, pollen filter........local parts factor=

Probably OE 16"s, the R wheels are fortunes and I don't overly like the TT ones.

Chris,
If you look through the build threads for Stuarts' "Cupra", you'll see a lovely picture that will seem familiar to mine with spinners....
