I know several DOHC's blow their head gaskets regularly, and although some are tough as old boots, it's normally a matter of when not if.
The other issue is less tuning options, but as a standard engine it is smoother and torquier than the Pinto. Some other good spec bits though why don't you buy it and we'll do some back to back comparisons? (Mines still standard so should struggle to keep up)
You could lob a 24v in it;)

Talking of old boots, got the wheels on Sunday, got some painting to do, and then get them on.
Have to wait till pay day, then the manifold will be on it's way.
Will my learned friends comment on whether I'll get away with a panel filter, or if I need to go the induction route? (Prefer the standard look under the bonnet if you catch my drift)

A decent panel filter would suffice, but this really depends on your final objective. The standard carb can easily be adjusted if you go for a panel filter or an induction kit. An induction kit will increase noise as will an exhaust. If you do change the exhaust then fit an additional boot carpet to help deaden the noise. Makes daily use more bearable:)

It's injected Pablo, but I'll follow up on the boot carpet, good idea.
Ideally I'm looking at the head being flowed, new cam and the normal basics really. I'm not looking at anything too extreme, maybe best to be guided by a rolling road.
Answers on a post card................

Yep, It's your fault mate!!

So in the space of a week thats wheels, manifold and now an engine (I need a bigger garage to hide this stuff in!)

PS If you were bidding on it mate, I'm sure we can come to some arrangement, I've got it just in case rather than because I need it, so the offers there mate.
( I can pay and pick it up if it helps)

Got some jobs lined up tomorrow, the wheels need finishing, it needs a bloody good clean, and the sills might get some attention, but I'm not the quickest of workers, so this probably won't get done.
Knowing me I'll get to Norfolks finest tomorrow and it'll be dirtier than it is now, and with the same wheels etc.
Shame it's dark as I'd be out there now........

Only problem is Bart, I went to the Stevie Wonder school of painting, and some of you boys actually know what you're doing!!
I should be able to get them on, and I'll probably have some bits to tart it up with in the boot (We could have the worlds smallest Sierra meet!!)
Roll on tomorrow:)
