More progress today, Gaskets arrives and head bolts, got them on, and heads, cams and followers, rocker covers on with new gaskets, had to trim some tabs of them to fit. Just seated manifold on top of insulating spacers (courtesy of carl davey Carl Davey, specialist Subaru Impreza parts supply ) and s sets of gaskets.

Cams back on, and all new pulleys/tensioners apart from one which was the wrong item so need to get another tomorow but that can be fitted with engine in, cam belt on to check timing alignment, all good so far.

Whilst I was awaiting for parts to arrive carried on with graphics and got one side done with team monkfish, it does look good even if I do say so myself. Need to get some thinner 'racing' text though, so will get that sorted for next round. TOW stickers/arrows arrived so they to go on too.

So tomorrow got to reconnect all manifold pipe work, bolt turbo back on and get engine back in.

Cheers

It was looking that way, you know different now.

Oil leak after running engine.

looks to be coming from behind cam cover, possibly cam seals.

Not sure If i'll be able to get it done by myself in time.

really gutted, graphics still look good though

Update for Round 2 looming.

Only a few days to go. Leak has been diagnosed and sorted. It turned out to be power steering oil leaking. But due to the fact I'd just partially rebuilt the engine, and the oil being same colour as engine oil and appearing from behind cam cover, and ran out of time thats why we thought it was an engine seal.

Everything else appears to be OK. Should be picking car up Thursday and apply the rest of the graphics, some people still haven't sent me theirs to go on at this late stage. Front wheel bearings are being replaced as a precaution, brake fluid change to Castrol SRF (thanks to Guy and Simon at opie http://www.opieoils.co.uk/).

So car is now more or less in the spec that I wanted for the rest of the season. Two more areas to upgrade now are an oil cooler set-up, and a fuel surge prevention set up, which will require a ECU map tweek.

I should get some pics up thurs night.

Cheers

The swirl pot wont need a remap Dill. It just stops it getting worse when cornering, it doesnt change it across the board.

No, but due to it having an aftermarmet FPR that would need setting up wouldn't it? or do i just 'adjust' something to run at normal pressure?

The FPR you are puting on would be adjustable and it can be set to run at std presure. Probably wise to check the afr's afterwards but it wont need remapping as such.

Got to garage (RASP) and vacuum bled brakes to get all the old fluid out then bled them with Castrol SRF, thanks to Opie Oils for that. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/

Took it out for a run to check brakes, thought the cops were coming for me, even though I was being good, luckily it was the dog section (its nice to know they have somewhere for the mingers to work!)

Started on my decals, the ones on the bonnet have more bubbles than a matey bubble bath (using the robot bottle). But they're all on, a couple of sponsors still haven't sent theirs, space is tight too, so left a bit on the rear 1/4's.

So a few pics.

Still never managed to get oil cooler ordered and on, but should have it sorted for Silverstone, Fuel surge will be prevented by running more fuel (and weight :( ) This will take a bit longer to solve,as the garage is busy, and the car needs to be there and perhaps a few parts manufacturing during install, as there appears to be no 'off the shelf kits'.

So its off to KH in a couple of hours, a long drive in a noisy car
