Today i've ordered a new headgasket and oil filter, as soon as i get the camera back off Alan will take a picture of the receipt and get it up. Just have to get some more oil for the initial running in stage and sort out the block.

Don't know why i'm bothering to post this as no one is going to believe it, I didn't at first.
Alan came round after he finished work today with a face that could kill. He had not long earlier spoken to Gordon, as the guy started to machine the new block he noticed a tiny crank in the block. Thats block number 2 scrapped.
Will be speaking with Gordon tomorrow to discuss all options.

FFS, how much bad luck can you guys have?
Please let me know if you need me to source a block.
I know of a non 205 block local to me, I'm pretty sure I can find a 205 quick enough....

When i speak to Alan tomorrow will let him know of your kind offer and finds. If you could keep an eye out for a 200 block as I know that is the route that Alan wants to go. We still may need one of those 205's though, will let you know,

when looking for a suitable 205 block there is a small "T" 1-4 number on the side iirc it is the lower number you are looking for as these were the one's that cosworth had to build with , 1 or 2 as they were supposedly slightly stronger .( or this could just be bollocks passed on the information highway)

Have just got the phone with Alan and Gordon as I am still housebound. We have decided to have the first block (with the tiny hole in bore 4), sleeved. This block was only ever going to used for 1 season and then we were going for a 200 block.

Our plans for time attack and the car were as follows

1. The bottom half of the engine to be built to a spec to cope with 500bhp.
2. 205 block and run around 350bhp for snetterton - 2010
3. Winter 2010-2011 Have work done to top half of engine. Head work, cams etc.
4. Time Attack 2011. To be running around 450bhp
5. Winter 2011. Get a 200 block and swop everything over and run around 500bhp.

Everything has been done according to the above plan, the problems that we have had recently means we are looking to change the plan slightly. We now may only be running around 370bhp for the start of 2011, but will be looking to source a 200 block for mid season 2011 and then running 450 for the later part of the year.
Even though you can pick these 205 blocks up fairly cheap, once you factor in costs for collecting them and then having them cleaned, machined and tested as well as the time factor we could have actually bought a 200 block.

These figures have not been plucked out of thin air, the power / weight ratio for the car was calculated to be that of Dunc's car when he won club class 2009. We want a Top 10 running car. We wanted that from the time we first entred Time Attack, so being at the bottom of the list for 2 seasons hurt but hasn't dampened our spirit.

It is good to see that you guys are still determined to do this even though you have had a very unfortunate run of bad luck. It is an inspiration to us all. Well done chaps. Keep a stiff upper lip even in the face of adversity :D
