OK, here are some pictures of the exhaust.
First I had to decide exactly where I wanted the exhausts to come out which after some discussions I decided to have them exit just before the rear wheel. I marked the bodywork and started cutting

Once through the plastic outer I then cut through the metalwork which was a real pain as it was three layers all at slightly different angles

Drilled some holes in the exhaust boxes and welded on some nuts so it had some solid fixings for some cotton reel rubbers

Made some brackets and welded them to the car so the boxes would be held firm

I bought a load of stainless steel angles off flea bay and once I had the reducer from 4" to 3" tacked in place it was just a case of cutting the 90's and 45's and tacking them together until the right shape was made

Then welded the pipes all round and mounted them to the car

I have cut some 4" pipe which will go around the exhaust pipe exit and be riveted on to protect the bodywork. The exhausts have been made so the pipework can be taken off for racing but leave the exhaust boxes on permanently so it is reasonably easy to swap from street set up to race and visa versa - more pictures to follow

Driving a fast Jap import is like coming out of the closet, you might surprise some people, but in the end you are still gay.

Initially I looked at that cutting of the bodywork and thought, "Christ, I bet Fil's arse was twitching!" but actually, I bet it wasn't at all. You seem to have everything pretty well planned out for this 'Stang mate. I'd still love to be a fly on the wall when this rocks up at the MOT centre at the weekend.
I take it they know it's not stock?

Sort of used to cutting the car up and it's not so new now, the MOT centre know it's had a different engine and some mods.
I think I have covered all the points needed for it to pass apart from the window washers which I should sort tonight

The exhausts were made to exit at the side as it would have been a real mission to avoid the 4 link suspension, wheelie bars and fuel pump and still be able to dismantle with relative ease. It seemed like the only logical place

Probably didn't explain myself very well, the exhaust won't be connected on high speed runs, the back boxes will remain in place but the centre section of the exhaust comes out allowing it to run on open headers
