UPDATE !!

Post by duncan »

Milltek 3 inch decat system fitted along with gauges for Oil Temp/ Oil Pressure/Boost/Air Charge Temp and using this info along with appropriate mapping tools the car has now been mapped to the next stage by Mocom Racing.

The transformation is incredible :D

Exhaust gives a fruity rumble when idling accelerating to a deep rasp on WOT
Power delivery is much quicker as spool up times has been slashed and lag is minimal now - just a punch in your back at boost kicks in :D
Air Charge temp shows that all operating within the limits of the turbo and shows that the TMIC and induction is doing its jobs well.
We can now feed 1.4 bar into the engine at full boost tapering down to 1.1 at limit due to injector limits at high revs. This suits my style of driving at present and is a joy to drive now with power available right from low down 2500 upwards to 6500 8)

Will update piccies soon but Garage has been updated.

Dont know figures yet - will be trying to get to the RR day tomorrow but unsure at the moment.

Comparing with previous logs it looks like figures of 360 bhp and 370 lb/ft are about right but it is more to do with the area under the curve as I am not after top level figures really. (although would be nice :) )

Try not to chase numbers.. just chase performance. :D

You have to get yours to the Snetterton Track Day in December frayz - will be fun comparing the two on track :D

Frayz - come up and watch if you dont get it out on track, would be good to see the car in the flesh and chat through mods etc.

As I have said in the Air = Power thread, it is running great at the moment and consistnely hitting MAF in the 290 grams/sec now.

Next Steps:

1 - bigger fuel pump
2 - FPR
3 - amendment to the map to suit these

I will then give it a little while to assess/log before taking the next steps on the injectors, ie whether modified injectors will flow enough to up boost further up the range or whether 650 cc or 740 cc injectors are needed to give a little headroom on the fuelling.

That should take me to around the 380bhp mark all being well.

The standard turbo is probably going to be at its limit at this point so will need to assess what turbo is best suited to my requirements going forward, or indeed whether there is a step beyond the current set-up as going that step further will highlight weakenesses in some other area of the engine/car and may prove expensive to attain. I think at the very least it will mean looking at expensive bottom end builds to give more reliability.

I "may" call it a day there and instead focus more attention on my driving skills to bring the best out of the car in given situations and leave money for events.

For what its worth,

I started to read your injectors thread, but you seemed to be getting good advice.

I run 740's on the drift car, and whilst on the original F-con SZ it was a tad lumpy (but in fairness this was a pure power map for quickness as it was squeezed in at the last minute), but once on FconV Pro it was absolutely smooth as a baby, so obviously the injectors had nothing to do with it.

Thought this might ease your concerns. Plus you will still have at least 10% duty safety limit even at 450bhp.
