Started polishing my old wheels, when it comes to cleaning around the studs and the valve anyone got any tips or is it just a case of get in there with a tooth brush or something?

Here is how far I have got...

Small update....

New bonnet is on....

Image

Not 100% about it at the moment, I have got it more to help with the cooling side of things and its made a massive difference.

I have been doing some other odds and ends like sorting out some of the wiring in the boot ready for my new fuel pump to go in. I have also sorted out moving some vacuum line feeds closer to my turbo - as instructed to by Jay D. Adjusted the headlight covers so they actually in line! (Was done after this pic) Finally I have put on a ported upper intake manifold, I have also got a new throttle body to go on which I have been porting myself... pics to follow once I have finished polishing it. All ready for another mapping session on the 9th... Hopefully I will hit the 400 bhp mark :)

Once all this is done, mechanically I should be able to leave the car alone and sort out the body work and generally neatening things up.

Well mapping part two in complete... I had a fun day which consisted of attempting to drive to APT and breaking down about a mile away from my house. The car cut out just as I pulled out of a junction onto the main road. The car wouldnt start.. and I was left a tad annoyed knowing in 30 mins Jaydee was going to rock up at APT and the games where meant to be beginning.

If by magic Gareth turned up and lent me a spare battery, hoping this was the fix he headed off to meet Jaydee. Trying the new battery the car would crank and still not start, so I came to the decision...its time to push. With the help of gravity in the form of a hill and some friendly bystanders I was able to get the car back to the bottom of my road. I live at the top of a hill so I whipped the battery out to put it back on charge, I then sat on my doorstep for about 10 mins recovering from the ordeal. I was still convinced the battery was the issue, it seemed the car got up to a certain temperature and then cut out. I headed off back to APT in the oil burner and caught up with the lads.

I got back to the house a hour or so later, chucked my battery back in and the car roared to life. Awesome, I thought I would let the car get up to temp and then try and restart it. Which I did, it seemed the car would not 'hot' start... in the rotary world... this is not a good thing. I left it at that and went back to APT.

Jaydee became free while one of the other lads sorted out a fueling issue, he said he would come to have a look at my car.

We arrived started the car and it ran fine, car got up to temperature, turn it off then it wouldnt start. Jaydee looked at me and said, 'well thats abit random'!! He had commented how good the vacuum readings were on my car so I haddent blowm a tip or anything (phew) We had a look round checked the fuel pressure and spark using a old spark plug, all looked good. Then I noticed after the fuel pump primed the fuel pressure was at zero when the car cranked.....Then it clicked....unlike the new fuel pump relay I had put in...The relay is a dud! We hardwired the pump to the battery (with a fuse still in situ) and the car started on the key. Game on.

Got back to APT and the fun could finally begin... (well eventually) Jaydee finished mapping the first car before then sorting the maps on mine and Gareth's.

When my turn came on the dyno all the nervousness set in, my last outing saw 376bhp but due to fuel pump running out of puff we had to stop there and rein the car in abit. Since then I have fitted the following:

Aeromovtive Stealth fuel Pump
Direct fuel pump wiring and a broken relay <- pro tip - dont buy cheap relays
Ported upper intake manifold
A 'Martino Special' throttle body - ported using my own secret recipe.
300ZX fuel filter

All of this netted.....

This is my previous dyno graph...

As you can see, 10bhp improvement... however over the whole curve a massive improvents have been made... 3500rpm for example... Old graph = 160 bhp roughly New = 200!!! 4500rpm... Old graph = 230 bhp New = 280!!! 5500rpm Old = 320bhp New = 355

I was not able to drive the car last night, I have been out tonight and the car seems to run very well. However I think like Gareth due to the lack of road mapping due to time constraints my cruise map needs some work as it seems quite rich.

Again massive thanks to APT and their patience with proceedings and for the cups of tea !

Was bizarre that relay issue as mine was setup in exactly the same way and ran fine to APT.

Nevermind we'll get a better solution.
