Excellent news. It's such a good feeling when you finally get that elusive relaibility and really start enjoying the car :)

Thanks all. Really happy with the car at last. Every time I have taken it out there were always niggles that were causing me to lose concentrating on the driving. I am more confident that it will hold together and I don't have to constantly check the gauges every 2 minutes! Now I can concentrate on my lines and braking without getting distracted.

Also really loving the power delivery of the twins and definitely no need to go single at this time.

Oh another rx7 in pieces! :chop:

So in preparation for mapping, I have a ported manifold and turbo pack to go on as the current one has an exhaust leak and possibly seals on the way out.

I was going to hassle Gary with it but I thought he would probably combust on sight or something so I manned up to tackle this myself!

The downpipe is off which was a little tight and all the intake pipework. Tomorrow I'll tackle the turbo pack and manifold. Considering many people say this can be an engine out job,it hasn't been to bad so far.

I'm hoping for a little more response and power from the ported manifold and no leaks!

I think that pipe at the rear of the turbos has to come off also mate.

There are shtloads of heatshield gubbins also that can come off. You can see the big old manifold nuts though once a number of these come off. Did try and look on the service guide but its not very clear to see on that either :(

You have another turbo pack though dont you mate......look and see where the bolts or bolt holes are on that ;)

Yeah I took that photo before removing the rear turbo pipe and downpipe.

I had to remove the steering rack connecting rod to get to the bottom downpipe bolt.

Cheers dude

So its taken me the best part of 7 hours to take the turbo pack and manifold off. :o I still have 10 fingers and a face, so I guess its going ok so far. :D

There was a lot of oil all over that area and a definite blow from the downpipe.

Hopefully ill be able to get it all back together tomorrow!

Im surprised the car ran so well. It must have been like this for some time but ive done 4 track days and the Ring in that time!

I cant believe the state of that turbo. The car ran beautifully and pulled hard. Cant wait to see what it can do on working turbos!

Jesus!! That looks horrendous Chris! At least you got your money's worth out of it

Like you say, how fast will it feel with two turbos that both work?!!

It must have been like that since I lost a tip 2 years ago and it took the blades on the way out! Its really surprising because the car really is quite fast. You can feel the surge from the 2nd turbo when it comes in and I was pulling on Krishes S15 dynoed at 360bhp.

Exciting stuff!
