Slowly clearing stuff out of the enginebay inc power steering piping, more brackets and ducting etc.

Whilst I was under the car I also took the opportunity to fit my Superflex steering rack bushes.

Crap pic of the day, you can just about see the blue of the bushes through the brackets :)

Started trial fitting the radiator and come across a few issues, the rad sits low at the front and there are 2 massive oil cooler pipes that are in the way for it to sit at the top so asking for a bit of advice on the FD forum. Hopefully it isnt too hard as I dont really fancy moving oil piping if I can get away with it. That said one of the pipes to the other oil cooler looks like it has been leaking so I might have to replace that whilst I can.

Anyway its moving along slowly and I am enjoying every minute of it ;)

Right a better update. The biggest problem I have is the oil cooler pipes have a metal pipe that Mazda decided to not make straight and put a short bend towards the front of the car. If it was straight there wouldnt be an issue and I cant bend it round :(

Anyway I have taken the brackets off and managed to move it enough but it is pretty tight against the radiator. Not sure how much of an issue this is at the mo:

Anyway a bit of pushing and managed to wedge some tubing down there to help:

Then it was on to trying to bolt up the rad and getting the intercooler in to test fit the pipework from the rad with all the bits in and seeing how it sits, I present to you......

This is the view from the bumper area:

Now the couple of issues I have is what to do with the oil cooler pipe and bracket still, what to do with the bumper as it was supported by the undertray but this is going to need a fair amount of work to get that back in there as the rad sits lower so will have to cut it. I do have a spare one thats slightly damaged so was going to muck about with that. Then there is intercooler piping, battery left plus do an oil change, fill coolant etc etc. It wont take as long as Frayz but not going to be finished in 5 mins.

On that note I decided to go for a cycle out to the fishing lakes I am going to on wed (first time fishing in about 16 years !!) and get some bait and sit by them in the pub garden having some nice food.....

So that's where we are.

cant believe ive only just seen this thread lol! Didn't realise you had a 99 spec nose. Looks awesome mate, and the FEED sidesteps will set it off real nice.

Personally now you have the car in bits I really would remove the airpump. I take it you have a decat so its pumping to nothing? Also id get the aircon out as well if you don't want it. You can feel the improved throttle response straight away from less parasitic drag.

Both are a bit of a pain to do but while its all apart it will be MUCH easier to get it all done now.

Let me know if you need a hand. :coolgleamA:

Gareth, really keen to meet up again and have a chat about the cars. I know 2 other owners in and around Norwich that might also be up for a chinwag and a pint. What do you reckon?
