Managed to stop the car sounding like a big old tractor by changing the exhaust manifold gaskets today. (Sounds like a small old tractor now :) )
A real easy, simple job which makes a lovely change.
Head unit later today or tomorrow, bet that is nt quite as straight forwards (80's wiring should be interesting ;))

Well my concerns about 80's wiring were well founded!
A gaggle of wires of random colours, some mixed together before being scotch locked, some seemingly conflicting with others- NIGHTMARE!
Obviously, at some point the original head units been out, and then stuck back in, but not before some "a" hole has cut off the loom ISO plug.
I followed what seemed to be the logical "Brown is earth, yellow is ignition, red is permanent" and promptly frazzled Russ's head unit (sorry mate, fuse intact but unit refuses to light up) . BUGGER!! So for the minute I'm stuck with the old Shitomatic from Ford, deafeningly powerful at 8 watts total output.
I'll try it again tomorrow just in case the head unit had just had a moment, but I fear it's fooked. On the plus side, the Cossie springs arrived today, the seats are due to be collected Thursday on a mini mission to Southampton, and the car insurance renewal arrived today for fully comp with business, agreed valuation etc for the princely sum of
