Mark came round and helped get the engine in the back of his pick up then we dropped the engine off at Jeff Bull to be stripped and rebuilt, while we were there we tried to gauge how tall the engine will be when fitted and tried a manifold with carb to get the height. It seems as we thought that this will be too tall to get under the hood so will definitely go fuel injection. This was always the preferred route but the more expensive one

It amazes me just how much horsepower and sheer brute force grunt you guys get out of big V8s, and thats just with old fashioned carb technology.

With bang up to date fuel injection on maps, the power potential must be insane.

Cant wait to see how yours turns out mate. I absolutely love your car and this thread. Keep up the good stuff. :)

Well a bit of a knock back, had a call from Jeff to go and look at the engine once it was stripped as there was some scoring on the bores. It can be fixed by having a re-bore, I was getting new pistons and bits anyway but Jeff has warned me that there won't be a lot of metal left and I could have problems with the transfer of heat into the water system. This isn't for certain but I can't afford to spend around

Bad luck there, could you not have liners fit which could make it stronger than ever or try and get another block as the rest of the engine is where the money has really been spent. Sorry if these suggestions are stupid as I haven't ever had any thing to do with such big power/displacement engine.

No it's a fair comment, because of what we needed to do to the engine it was just not viable, it was running on methanol with an extreme nitrous cam and all the internals needed changing for a pump gas application and there would still not be any guarantees about the overheating issue. The engine is set up for drag and if it was re bored or lined it would be fine for that application as it would only be under duress for 8 - 9 seconds.
The overheating issue was an aspect I must admit I had not thought about, on the next attempt I will find something more "streetable" I have other routes to investigate, pro charger, twin turbo etc on a smaller bore

Have started routing the power cables and charging system at the rear of the car but didn't get any photos will post some pics up another time. Have done a few other bits but will fill you in later when I'm not so knackered

No wonder you're knackered mate, that looks bloody superb :thumb:

The chin spoiler was the right decision in my opinion, it looks a lot more cohesive and 'factory'. Was the fire extinguisher easy enough to fit mate?
