Cock, Well the V band still is not sealing so I have taken off the down pipe and the flange on the turbo and downpipe are not very smooth. I have just done one session with an oil stone to try and smooth things out. So far so good. Also when I drove the car the wide band was going mental, I have tested it and it seems ok. I know there was a leak in the exhaust system as well which I have fixed so hopefully that goes away....finally I have a boost leak as well but I am 90% sure I have found it and I know what I need to do to fix it - new jubilee clip.

Hey ho, on the plus side I found a cool pick from my last track day @RAF Marham

Great photo  Get off the brakes mid corner though ;)

It would be nice to see your issues get resolved so easily mate, and at least you've been able to persevere and get it sorted yourself.

Hehe give it time I am still getting my bearings with the car. Yeah my bad being on the brakes mid corner, I think I might take the time to get some tuition at some point.

I should hopefully be putting the car back together on Sunday (weather and patience permitting) so we shall see how I get on. I bought the Rex as abit of a project so I am happy as a pig in shit really when I am working on her, just wanna get another outing in her before I put her away for the winter.

LOL! We both know it wont stop here!

My first goal is getting the car back on the road sorted and available for meets and the like. After that I will be looking at getting the car out on track days and trying to teach myself how to drive properly. I suspect I am gonna have to do some work exhuast wise to get the car quite enough to get out on the track.

Well after round two with the oiling stone its still leaking. Not a huge amount but I have come this far and I wanna get it right. I have fixed all the other leaks and sorted out the AFR gauge miss reading.

I am going to have to give in and use a gasket between the two surfaces, other than this my only other option is to send both turbo and downpipe away to be machined. I cannot afford to do this. I could I guess use a sealant of some sort but I dont like the idea of doing that as it will leave a mess should I need to take things apart at any point.

I have spoken to the chaps at Munsch and Co - http://www.epdm.co.uk/products.htm and they are whipping me up 3 gaskets (might as well get some spare) for 42 delivered including VAT. Bargin. The gaskets can take well over 1000 degrees C so that side of things should be ok and they can compress so the gaskets should take up any small imperfections which remain.

The whole cause of this I think is the amount of heat rotary engines produce coupled with the fact the turbo had a turbo benie on it to keep the heat out of the engine bay. All this heat being 'locked in' has caused things to start eating themselves. This is all my humble opinion however :)

Getting the gaskets at the end of the week, I cant bloody wait!

GET IN!!!!

Gasket fixed the leak from the V band, there was a leak from the lower part of the manifold but this was fixed by tightening the bolts abit more. Its still leaking slightly but its very minimal.

Took the car out, hit boost and I am back in love. I have got a broken jubilee clip on one of the intercooler hoses so the hose popped off but thats an easy fix. So happy to be back in the rex.

Thanks guys, like I say not that exciting a build thread so far more maintenance! I do have plans for new shiny bits in the new year! Next up I would like to get the splitter sorted and give the car a good clean along with the bay (along with removing the hay which has found its way into there!!!!)

Stu, for the charity event you got any more room for another car on the stand?
