It's nice to see a bit of thinking outside of the box. Your comments about Japanese car owners having it easy with choices is true up to a point. Because parts aren't readily available for some other cars, does that make those that tune them more resourceful because they have to improvise or are their choices compromised because there isn't enough testing??

Not having a dig, just wondered....
I think it does make people in the position that I am in more resourceful. Of course I appreciate the complications of tuning any car, even with a choice of parts available, sometimes it's difficult in itself to sort the 'wheat' from the 'chaff' so to speak. But when you are faced with tuning something that has simply never been done, everything is a mission and is all just a big gamble. I still acknowledge that we might run this on the Dyno, overlay the graphs with how it was before and see no improvement. This would be immensely frustrating, but it's part of the fun in a way.

I do like to be different, which I suppose is why I have stuck to my guns and seen this whole project through, even though it has fought me all the way!

LOL about the Percussive maintenance. It did the job, no??!!

I am sure the thing that helps us, as mine is becoming a long term thing also, is that we accept that there will be good times and bad, productive mods and non-productive also.

The thing I need to learn from seasoned pro's who have been doing this for years is patience. I am seriously bad in that respect.

Mucho kudos to you for sticking with it and spending all of that time and money, when you could have quite easily gone out and spent less money on a more obvious choice.

I won't go into the fact the more obvious choice may also be quicker, handle better etc etc ;)

OK, after several days of struggling and wrestling to get this all sorted, I finally spent the day today doing the final assembly. I had some bits and pieces to address and got pretty much all of it done today.

First, I made a bracket to brace the Wastegate Vent Pipe to the main exhaust. Then, once I had checked it all for fit, I wrapped it.

You can see the bracket I added here......

.....and the lug that it bolts to here.....

This should stop it from vibrating and potentially breaking the whole wastegate assembly off. This is common with such complex manifold/exhaust system and I am still likely to suffer problems, I just wanted to know that I had done all I could.

Next I fitted all the ancillarly connections, such as Water and Oil supply and the new Oil Drain along with the modified Intercooler pipework. I fitted the heatproof cover to the starter motor and bolted the exhaust up......

......along with the current Wastegate Vent, which is Atmospheric, often referred to as a 'Screamer'.......

You can actually catch a glimpse of the relocated Alternator in this pic.....

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I don't intend to keep the Screamer set-up as these are certainly too loud for most trackdays and certainly Brunters, so I have another plan for that. It does sound quite rude though.

Finally some pictures of the engine bay. There are still some issue's to address, these will be sorted out over the next few days and include some way of further protecting the leads. I have modified the bonnet, but it is still getting very hot. So we will see how that goes. Luckily it is still the non-turbo bonnet so it is likely that it is getting hotter due to the lack of vents, but also I don't really care what happens to it, so it will be a Guinea pig for now.

I haven't had a chance to get it on the Dyno yet and am busy now for a few days, so not sure when it will get mapped, but I will certainly post here when I know whether or not all this work has been worth it. I can certianly say that it was a far bigger task that I had envisaged. :?

But I love the workmanship and thought that you've put into this conversion, Will be a real weapon on a hot dry day 8) :D .
