At last got the time to upload some more pics
Been a busy week for me whilst working a late shift i also wanted to remove the engine from tha car.
The week started bad i wasnt able to borrow my brothers engine crane someone else was borrowing it so i decide to take the engine apart in the car . Head off first then my brothers was gonna help me lift the block out .
monday morning i started to remove all wires and pipes from the engine. at closer inspection the condition of the fuel lines and silicone hoses is not very good. Most of them have holes or the jubilee clips have been done up too tight and cut into the pipes ( so those need to be replaced). whilst taking some of the loom plugs off connects some of the wires had started to crack so i am needing to replace these . Not hard jobs but just a little time consuming. Then it was time to remove the head would of thought it would be easy but no this car likes to fight me all the way . it has a long studded block so trying to remove the head by myself was a little difficult. kept getting caught on the studs as i couldnt remove it square on my own. so i removed all the manifolds inlet and exhaust try and make it easier but it wasnt. it took me 2 days to remove the head in the end with my dad helping and a liitle bit of leverage from some wood. once the head was removed i was it was washed and taken to work to be stripped. whilst stripping the head i found the oil starving that caused the big end to go has caused the camshafts to pick up luckly not to bad but new cams needed . the vernier pulleys are also no good as the belt has worn a ridge into them in my opinion the belt was to tight. so new ones needed. Then i spotted something that nearly ruin the whole project th ehead had started to corode as their was no antifrezze in the water system it looked quite bad i was gutted. The next day i went to see a friend of mine who built this engine the first time. He said the head can be skimmed and it will be alright which was news to my ears. so i am having to strip the head and he will machine it for me which will hppen over the next few weeks .
Im starting to write my parts list which is growing by the day but i am well in to this project and i will complete it
overall the week has been tough but can only get better. next week the block will be stripped ready for some new parts
ENGINE SPEC
knifed edged crank
WRC forged pistons
polished and ported head
Bd12 camshafts?
Green injectors
T34 turbo
Rs500 intercooler
Eventually i am hoping to run about 430bhp a long way off yet but will get there over the next year
Hopefully the engine will be back in and running by April (well thats what i want)
here sme more pics next week i should have some new parts to show you
the car on all 4s again
