I found the 'dam' that was causing the stream to burst it's bank and run through our chicken coup....it turned out to be a piece of wooden crate that I had propped up in the Summer to stop the our dog from getting through from the fence at the bottom section of our garden and up into our woods.

It was like releasing a bloody Tsunami when I pulled it away!!

At least the stream running under the zed has died down a bit now thankfully

As always there is a silver lining to be found in such situations, shortly after unleashing the Tsunami I took a walk around the rest of the garden (in particular across the lawn) I noticed several small 'drains' had cropped up with small streams running down them. I though it was a bit strange as I didn't even know that we had a small drainage system running beneath our lawn and then it dawned on me....

'Rain Storms' (1) fucking annoying 'Moles' (0)

Result!!!

We're really exposed to the elements up here but as my wife said yesterday, the barn that our house started out as has been stood here for several hundred years and hasn't blown away yet so it must be solid.....maybe cowboy builders didn't exist back then

It's a completely different world mate

If I lived in Hackney and saw my neighbour just a stones throw away loading a shotgun and wandering off up the road with an "I'm gonna' cap that fucker!" look on his face, I'd think that a hit or a heist was about to go down

however here, that kind of thing is a daily occurrence and you just accept the fact that some fat ass' fox is about to meet its maker

Likewise if I was to wander around outside my old place in Hereford carrying a big fook' off axe I'm sure the local plod would have a thing or two to say about it, whereas up here you need it because the wood ain't gonna' chop its fookin' self!

I love it.....unfortunately it just so happens to be a pretty dire place to build a bloody zed in Winter, so I can't wait to get a proper garage build for ramps etc.

Sounds great and peaceful but with it's own problems. By the sound of it a garage is a must, when Alan moved into his new place one of the first things we did was to clear out and patch up the old garage and clear a lot of crap next to it to make a car port to make things a bit easier for working on the car. Oh and we also cut down 9 trees out of his garden.....Granted all on a much smaller scale than your place from the sounds of it.

I did propose a car port extension of the current workshop a few months back as an 'absolute necessity' but that idea was categorically rejected by my wife on the basis that it would look shit. She has a point...

However she has said that the old workshop can come down and be moved to the other side of the property where our son can have it as his own shed. His sisters have their own playroom already and he was due to have the other spare room as his playroom, however despite being promised it he now won't be having it due to a new arrival (#4) in January who will need a bedroom

He's happy with the idea of having his own shed though which is good.

A new workshop/garage will then be built in place of the old one but I have a few things to sort out next year before funds become available for that.

I think the snow will be with us shortly and that will make it really interesting!

Congratulations on the expected arrival:thumbs:

You should invite a few friends round for a 'Bar-B-Q', and then get them to help you move the shed, start building the workshop....Well, it seems to work well for Alan (can't believe i keep falling for that one).

:smilielol5:that sounds familiar. funny how that's all the justification required for you to know it ain't gonna happen!

glad you've found the source of the river chief, your new place sounds the absolute bollox, bet you're loving it there. Even more so once the new "non-shit" looking workshop has gone up.

And big congrats to you both on the next arrival bud, good work

Sounds like a proper Welsh adventure :) I don't think you can beat living in a rural location, but I do sometimes question the sanity of it when us country folk seemingly have it much tougher when the shit weather descends (says he typing at 3.48am on Christmas Eve because the wind and rain is trying to take my guttering down for me!)

Best of luck Pez with the little one......with 4 kids I would think a bit of shed relocation will be the least of your worries ;)

We got back this evening and found....well I suppose what can only be described as a small canyon running the full length of the driveway in front of the house. It would appear that in the 24hrs that we were away we must have had some serious rain fall, part of the top of our driveway is now at the bottom of our driveway with about 18 inches of material now sitting where the zed is up on stands, I'll get some pics up after
