Donington 28 Aug

Post by Tommy »

Bit of a late update - we were at Donington at the end of August.

It was a very mixed day in terms of the weather with lots of rain and very very slick conditions that the Hankook RS2s on the rear didn't like one bit. Even though we had slick (yes slick) 888s on the front they provided tons of grip. The RS2s (with 3mm of grip) on the rear, however, were just terrible. It was constantly a case of turning in and waiting to see whether the rear was going to stick or let go in a big way. At least when it was dry, the rears were as good as usual.

Chris ended up with a best of 1:59.6 and myself with a 2:00.3.

Here's the obligatory videos ;)

Chris's best videoed lap (2:00.9)

My best overall (2:00.3)

This is a montage of all the slidy bits. It was so funny at times. :)

And the second slide (I thnk) in the video taken by the GT3

Finally, some photos from the day.

I always look forward to the video's of you two looning around. Some nice car control too considering how much you were provoking the slides.

When are we going to hook up and actually do some laps together? What else have you got planned for 2009?

I wasn't provoking slides! (much lol).

Donny was meant to be the last but I had a chat to Chris today and there's a good chance we're doing 1 December at Oulton with Opentrack. Fancy? I'm sure Chris wouldn't mind providing a bed.

One word... WOW!

What a transformation! Superb job you've done on the car, looks awesome now.

Oh how i wish i had the confidence (and money!) to buy a RWD M3 as a track car! Some serious skill in those videos... well done that man! Glad you enjoyed it.
James is looking for the next trackday...

Cars looking good and some good fun driving :driving:

I loved your red flag moment with the two of you giggling away stuck in the kitty litter.
