The poor old girl splutters like a one lunged asthmatic in the cold mornings.....so it'll be new MAF time on pay day, and then fingers crossed a new lease of energy in time for the end of the month.
Also noticed the front left wheel bearing seems to be droning a bit more these days, so if you see a red 4x4 type thing slowly navigating right hand coned sections at the end of the month you know why ;)
On the plus side though, the brakes saved me from certain death with a bastard lunatic Power Ranger on the A414. There's a local group of roads that attract born again bikers whenever the suns out this time of year.
I was "progressing" and saw in incoming group of bike headlights about 1/2 mile out, weaving in and out of 60mph traffic.
Problem was they did nt anticipate our closing speeds as well as I did and the last one tried to squeeze between me and the lorry they all came past.
I had to nearly put the nearside wheels onto the verge at speed, and if the brakes had nt been so good (for what it is) or I'd not been concentrating, I could have rolled or twatted the last biker trying to keep up with his "friends".
Definitely would have needed some paint for the front end then;)
Fresh pair of pants for me and the red Ranger and all is well :)

Good news Bertrand.......on the brakes anyway. If the car is running poorly when cold but OK when warm, it's more likely to be the cold start valve, surely? Maybe get that checked first buddy, rather than spunk another

Just thinking back to the rolling road and what happened when Gary/Adam unplugged the MAF and it ran better with 10 or so more bhp?
Also it still lurches below 2000rpm whether cold or hot.
I'll start there and see what happens.......

Not bad for a tenner :D I have to say that the speed you came off of that roundabout on the way to Gary's, that your car seemed to be running very well indeed

You still corner like a pussy though ;)

LMFAO, should have seen the neighbours with me sticking this on there and then taking pictures!!!

How do you plan to explain the rumours to the wife.

'You'll never guess what I saw Rob doing, he was taking photos of his little run around with just a bra on'.

If you've got gossipy old neighbours you're domed mate:rofl:

"You're domed mate"- Pab's I've been called a slaphead before, but never "domed". LMAO :)

Fortunately most of them are nice enough, but it makes me smile when they curse the cars over North Weald wooshing and skidding, and I'm grinning like a bloody idiot :)

@ Stu- It's a little odd, after Gary's the car went much better, I guess as the ECU was sorting itself out after the MAF was re-connected, not sure really.
All I know is that it's been getting more and more lumpy from cold, but when warm more or less where it was on the way to Gary's. (So after about 2-300 miles). I did the MAF cleaning earlier today, and have some 40 or so miles in different states of engine temperature. The real test will be in the morning, but then over the next week.
Fingers crossed though;)

PS I am a pussy mate- twenty poxy years of "Roadcraft" to thank for that!

It seems alas that my ten pound fix to the MAF was short lived, as the old girl dislikes cold starts for the first few minutes, and misses and occasionally farts (a true Staples then ;) )

I've ordered another new MAF and will, work willing, fit it tomorrow.
The slight pisser is, with all this rain, I think the door seals are starting to leak, meaning imminent wet footwells. (A common leon weak point so I read).

Deep joy!
