@Stu, I've been working like a loon all day thanks, and am still working, so the cleaning will have to wait unfortunately.
I've done 160 miles so far, and have the following findings.
1. The car is quiet ( as much as any 80's Ford is)
2. The steering is heavy and slower than I'm used to, but with bags of feel
3.There are NO knocks from the suspension or steering, engine, gearbox, but the clutch is, not surprisingly, a little stiff.
4. The standard stereo is SHITE, with about 8 watts of power, so I'm not sure how long that will be in there.
5. I love it:)

Guys,
Chucked a bucket of water over the old girl today and it looks better taking three years worth of dust off it..

Had a Pinto expert look over it today, and given it a clean bill of health.
Bonus is the car has a 205 block, so if I go down the route of boring the bugger out I can go 2.1+ easy .
I'll be getting a build plan together, and start gathering bits.
As much as I wanted to keep the car standard to look at, the head unit will be going as soon as I figure out how the bypass the joystick balance /fader control older Sierra's had.
Then it'll be brakes (Thanks Bart!), suspension (Anyone know of uprated suspension that'll be progressive enough for a 23 year old daily driver? Not after super hard, just to gradually stiffen as the car gets leant on through bends. Or would I be better of uprating anti roll bars etc?) then tyres as the Cosmos tyres on it, I suspect are made of recycled lego for all the grip they offer.
This is going to be fun....

Do you actually need new dampers Rob, or just the springs? Any one of our traders (ASP, Fast Eddy, APT) should be able to supply dampers, springs or kits but I would have thought that some stiffer, uprated springs from a firm like Eibach would do the trick quite nicely. Try not to buy the cheapest thing offered as mismatched springs and dampers will be a real pain in the arse for a daily driver. You can upgrade the anti roll bars for 2wd Cosworth ones but I would get these Polybushed at the same time. Pete might have the front ARB with polybushes as a spare for the track car, as Team TNT sourced one for me and I'm sure he's never fitted it.
I've not driven your car (yet
) but if it were my money and how I would expect a genuine 30k car to drive, I would go for springs and ARB with polybushes first, rather than a full suspension kit. Presuming you're using 15's, that may even allow you enough money for some better tyres (Not sure of your size)

PM me your address mate and ill send brakes over to you.
if your not able to get the roll bar of stu im sure (but check) that the xr4x4 anti roll bar will fit but ill measure up this weekend and ill let you know and if does you can have that as well mate.
im sure its bigger than yours but can you measure the circumference of it and ill do same..
you can get suspention kits for these types of cars but they are expensive because they are not that populer.
what i would (just my opinion) is just get some lowering springs but no more then 25mm as this will trash your rear bearings as ive found out.
can use cosworth lowering springs which pop up on ebay quite cheap, second hand. one thing i would say if you carry weight on the boot quite alot get some gas rear shocks it stiffens up the back quite nice but dont make it hard its a happy medium between road and track use.
