Marham prep with angle grinding goodness.

I've fitted 3 engines, 6 gearbox's and numerous turbos to my car, But fitting the FMIC has definately given me the most sense of satisfaction. Must be something to do with the use of an angle grinder eh?

That thought had crossed my mind, It does tend to try to rip the bonnet off at 125+Gerry H wrote:Nice job! You can get shot of the bonnet mounted parachute now
Is it not worth keeping it to direct cold air onto the turbo and IC pipes though? Or would fitting a reverse scoop be more beneficial?

If you look at the cars of those 'in the know' the scoop is dumped in favour of a rearward louvre a la RCM.
It could be worth lagging the i/c to throttle body though.
IMO
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!
Nice work:thumbs: Although i thought your scoob was a flyer before, whats the potential going to be now? I agree that fitting a front mount is cock of a job, And i agree with Gerry in ditch the scoop especialy for marham. I had my bonnet lift twice down the runway
(fortunatly the second catch held!)thats why the bonnet pins were installed.

Thanks Gerry, Advice taken on board

I should probably start a project thread, But in the meantime.
Here's a few more pics of what I've been up to recently...
Got really pissed off with this happening again and again

So i bit the bullet and went for a STI 6 speed & AP clutch

Next up were some RCM goodies

Let the wrappage begin

Heat wrapping has to be THE most tedious thing ever, And i didn't have enough to finish the job in one sitting
Sadly, My love/hate relationship with Snett bit me on the ass again with this happening

But, Thanks to Harvey Smith I was soon back on the road again with a new 20G

Even more thanks to Harvey for sending me (free) one of his bespoke up-pipes to test back to back against the standard item. This should make for some very early spool and transform the drive

And finally the FMIC

With all the above bits fitted and yet another remap from Dunk (who has been frankly outstanding
), I hope to have some reliable power on tap
Bring on lots and lots of track time for 2010
And a stoopid photo to finish the post

No, Harvey's a bit of a legend in the scoob world for his straight talking advice on tuning, supply of FMICs, porting/flowbench work and great value fitting service up in Darlington.
Great bloke; when the headers/fmic job on my car was looking like more than one days-worth last year, he gave Lucy and I the spare room for the night and fed us and lent us a car for sightseeing.
