Engine

Post by puggsy »

Right, got some new pics of the engine and bits. Starting to get them together, hopefully start to swap out engine next week. I'll just put up acouple to see how uploading goes. It's a Toyo intercooler, RossSport/JMF Manifold, which is a stunning bit of kit and a TT S205 Turbo. After speaking to Alan at EngineTuner, with the manifold, i should get around 550bhp atf. Lovely old job.

Build update

Time to write about how i got into Bigpower cars. After witnessing the delights of the Skyline GTR on many of the Grand Turismo games, i thought i might like one of those and went about investigating them. I remember speaking to a large bald headed gent in my local game shop and saw he was doing some graphics on a GTR and got talking about cars in general. Any way a while later i decided to go for an Evo instead, as it had 4 doors and a good boot. I got a IV and after the first rolling rd day, decided to go for more power, by way of an Autronics ECU and a boost controller. It felt so much better. I met Mike (RallyRat) in Yarmouth and he told me about BigPower, so i decided to join, and who should i meet, but said Large bald gent! Any way, did a few track days and found i wanted more power and Daz at Premiere knew someone who dad a VI, so i got that and intended to sell the IV. We swapped a lot of the parts from the IV to the VI, coil overs, ecu and got it remapped at NR Auto sports. I went up to 1.6 bar boost and at the BP RR day, put down 353 atf. It was driving nice, but i fitted more handling stuff, a Perrins rear anti-roll bar, K Sport 8 pot 330mm disks up front, a Blox Roll Stopper and relocated the battery to fit a straight HKS intake pipe. Which helped the handling loads. I did a No Limits day and Andy Walsh had told me it was set up to under steer, but with the Perrins fitted it felt much more neutral. Me and Daz then discussed about possibly doing a drop in kit so i could go for more power! again. But most places didn't recommend it on an engine with more tha 45k on the clock. So browsing the MLR one day, i saw a forged 2ltr VIII engine for sale, from one of the moderators at a good price, so after discussions again with Daz, decided to go for it. It arrived while i was away at work and before i got home, got myself a lovely bit i kit from a group but on the MLR. A RossSport/JMF manifold, beautifully grafted, as you can see from the pics,

Engine is now installed thanks to Daz and the guys at Premiere, but i need to get it re-mapped now. I decided to go to MA Developments near Slough for this, as they go out on the road to map, but i'll hve to wait till i get home in another month to do so. more pics.

Yeah, neither can i, i'm gutted, as my flight has been cancelled on tues due to BA strike and i'm stuck here looking at it, but can only poodle round slowly on a low map. still, i think i need to get a hard pipe from throttle body down to the intercooler, so i can browse some places while i'm away.
