Great engine! I considered dropping one in my fiesta. Can reach 200bhp with head work along so I hear!

Well I wasnt expecting such a positive response! Thankyou everyone.

I wont hark on too much just yet, but this engine has already had the headwork done, and the manament has been remapped at Coutenay. Its aledgedly running 200hp or there abouts so im going to concentrate on the car first.

Once I get used to the power, i'll most likely go the turbo route... BIG POWER! :D

And I know a saloon may seem like a strange choice, but it really is the cleanest shell I could find, its absolutely rot free, and it does allow a certain amount of weight shifting to the rear to balance the car. I dont even like novas, and im not really a fan of vauxhalls to be honest, but theres no denying the power to weight potential.

Anyway, im now well underway.

I took the day off work to get stuck in and ive ripped out and destroyed the interior for starters.
Using a disc cutter ive taken out the insides of the doors, and completely removed all of the window mechanisms and frames. The side windows have been replaced with perspex too.

Ive not used it before but its great and took me and my mate about an hour to pull all the glass out, cut the perspex, and get it all back together.

All this weight saving is starting to show its potential... :)

all the best in creating the ultimate sleeper mate :D ...no one would think that a nova saloon would have any power you'll catch a lot of people out

a mate of mine owns what looks like a bog standard volvo 850 estate...little do they know its T5 with a RICA remap producing about 300bhp  the look on peoples faces when they get smoked

I hadnt planned on putting it on the road, but hopefully it will still surprise a few people on track :)

I shed a bit more weight today, there was a big metal panel where the rear seat mounted, no match for a disc cutter, the dash is gone, and im a currently cutting out little brackets and having a tidy up.

Image

And ive put the wheels on to give me an idea of how much the arches need flaring before it goes any lower. Its already on 60mm lowering springs and shocks but the back is nearly back to standard height with all the weight loss...

Im amazed that you lot are interested in this, thankyou for the positive comments. :)

Well im virtually done stripping, so ive started planning the roll cage.

I wanted to mount the rear part here...

...beside the rear seat but it needed reinforcing, so...

...I cut some 3mm thick plates to weld in to make a much sturdier load point.

...and the same for the front...

Just got to do it all again the other side now.

And to finish off my day I finished scraping out all of the sound deadening, including out of all the doors.

It all went into one bin and was surprisingly heavy when I picked it up. Good good, its all part of the extreme diet. :)
