Still, a fantastic project - good luck with it.

It sounds like you have researched it and know what you are doing :thumb:

Surely that would be an even easier solution to build.
Unfortunately using something like the Scooby ECU, would not solve the problem of gearbox control etc. The Toyota ECU is tied in quite tightly to a large number of systems within the car. It controls engine and gearbox, with ties to Aircon, Traction control, Cruise control, EMV display ( that feature might have to go for now) My Soarer is a V8 so adds anouther degree of complexity by having twice as many sensors as most 4/6 pot lumps.

ScoobieWRX wrote:P.S. Is yours a V8 Soarer or 6Cyl. I have seen an XLEM G3 system for a V8 Soarer and Apexi PowerFC that looks applicable. I'll shut up now and go to bed :D
It would seem that the Apexi has been discontinued for the Soarer V8 and I'm not sure they were ever very popular even in Japan - no idea why not.
The XLEM G3 was a possibility, and to be honest I suspect is based on very similar processor hardware given the specifications. While it has been used successfully on the 1uz-fe v8 in the Soarer, it relies on using a MAP sensor rather than the original AFM. It also quickly runs out of I/O ports if you attempt to match the original configuration. The unit provides 8x auxillary outputs but the soarer needs 12 in order to drive the IAC, EGR valve and the gearbox. It does offer excellent mapping capability, and could manage the 4x Lambda sensors and 2x knock sensors. I can't see that it would correctly use the ignition fire inputs, or interface that easily with the cruise and traction control ECUs as these functions are part of the operating code rather than the maps. It's good but doesn't offer me the features I am looking for.
Of all the things I've lost......

I miss my mind the most.

If at first youu don't succeed .................... Skydiving is NOT for you!
