Helluva motor you have there Dave and i bet you get a big grin the first time you drive it on the road , well done on your new buy . I found the factory disc /drum plus big servo not to bad and it would do 2 or 3 laps of Snetty before fading so good enough for the road , then again you still might be rolling on drums . I do still have the servo taking up space in the garage if you need one . Pete

Will do mate, the underneath could do with a little auto genie magic but not sure what can be done on satin black to seal the paint without polishing it?

I have waxes specifically for matte paints Dave so that's easy enough. Feel free to give me a bell or message some time to discuss.

quick update.....

well my motor died after about 20miles use, no oil pressure and a big puff of smoke from the breathers.
on closer inspection it was complete junk inside.

so the rebuild has begun, replacement 2 bolt block (stronger than a 4 bolt on 400ci), eagle crank, rods, pistons +0.040", comp cams xtreme energy cam kit and timing set, roller rockers, arp studs throughout, and a few more bits and pieces to hold it all together. similar builds have hit 530bhp (AND A LOAD OR TORQUE) @ approx 5500rpm and this is what my usual engine builder says his desktop dyno reckons too (and its accurate normally), we'll not have the ignition fully advanced but it should still be lively.

since owning the car I've now gutted the electrics and built a custom loom with new style fusebox, complete new gauge set, new custom alloy fabricated fuel tank, got some nice leather seats etc etc.

can't wait for the new year, hopefully on the road in spring

You've taken the demise of the motor rather well - was there no comeback on the seller?

No comeback at all. The guy I bought it off imported it 2 years ago and it just sat in one of his barns. He was disappointed when it arrived as the seller in the USA said the paint etc was mint, it's not and the rear floor is shocking (I'll get round to that next winter).
I'm gutted about the motor but really like what I'm doing to the car, I think it's going to be pretty crazy on the road and probably the quickest thing I've owned.

Beautiful car,
American muscle is something I'd love to own but know I never will
