Right, not pointing any fingers at all here but since my car was mapped the Power FC commander hasn't lit up at all. The display is fine in terms of what it is displaying but the actual backlight on the lcd wasn't working. I thought this was odd but then when Dom and Ste, the other guys who had the cars mapped at the same time said they had the same issue then it seemed a bit too much like coincidence.

Anyway we thought lets fix the problem by throwing money at it as our new found friend from Newera (Matt) said he could get the OLED commander which looks heaps better for a good price and a bit cheaper if we ordered two. So both Dom and I put our orders in and after about 3-4 weeks it arrived last week.

In a race with Dom to get mine setup and fired up I did so only to find this was the result....(excuse the sht iPhone pic!)

Dom confirmed the suspicions that he had the same problem.....dammit !!

So after he put in the hard work (I just fed the odd bit of things to try and helped with internet research) and went to Joshs house and tried all combinations he discovered it was the ecu. After popping to mine we found by wiggling the ecu commander socket we could get it to work.
Dom found out the issue to be a faulty resistor sat next to the socket which was split in half and when he got a new one and tried it his worked fine. Expecting mine to be the socket still he popped over today and checked the resistor first (my electronics skills extend no further than the Fisher Price school qualifications :) ) and by heating the solder it showed the same problem......split resistor !! So he replaced this and re-soldered the socket just to be sure that was ok then it was checkup time !!

Well low and behold it worked first time and the OLED commander looks stunning and so much easier to read. None of that squinting at the old lcd screen which is next to useless when the sun gets on it !!

Quick pic for what I am looking at in the cockpit and the red seats and now my R-Magic Commander holder has finally stuck with some better tape !! :) (obviously the ecu and all the wiring there has to be tidied up but we are getting patching leads so when its needed for mapping the patching lead can be unplugged from the commander and then the mapping stuff plugged into that rather than touching the ecu again, plus it means all the interior plastics can go back!).

Massive massive thanks to Dom for fixing my ecu though !!

Went out in Doms car this morning which was nice so then took my car out in the afternoon. My goodness me the bucket seat is low. I felt like a 70 year old dear who could just see over the steering wheel :)

Felt good though !

Was good to be out in the car as well even if it was only for a short amount time. Shame we couldnt get to the bottom of what is going on my map, I shall speak further to Jaydee about getting him to look at it before I start hitting boost.

Hello G, I’m pleased you still have the Rex :coolgleamA:
I was beginning to think I was the only one that had issues with letting things go.....after all there is so many jobs that need doing on old yella before I could even think about selling it - not that I ever would ;)
Does that sound familiar? :D
