Your wish etc etc....

Once the stripping was done with it was time to re-seal the original bodywork and factory primer with metal
paint,a first coat of stone chip followed by seam sealer and another coat of stone chip to provide a level
of protection sadly never applied to original Z's.

Sadly it wasn't under the Zed - a transit beckoned and I couldn't resist the call of the dark side!

Well after her winter lay up and a lot more fiddling about the old girl is now running on all 6 cylinders again (not just 3 - turns out the rear inch and three quarter SU HS6 was gummed up with emulsified fuel :sheep:) - plus what I had feared was a failed clutch actuator lever turned out to be be a missing peddle linkage pin - so no engine out (yet again!), and all associated hassle was not necessary, a bang on result!!

But having unblocked everything she is now running pretty well (a bit of distributor fettling aside) and sounding absolutely awesome.

Sometime think this car is a case of two steps forward and one step back, I seem end up re-doing stuff that has deteriorated since it was done lol :banghead:

Some more pics shortly gents ;C)

Pictures will follow honest!

Still in the 2 steps forward 4 steps back club sadly

To bring the story up to date :-

Having replaced the leaky core plug (one of those sneaky ones that hides under the exhaust manifold) I rather foolishly/naively refilled the rad with water thinking job was a goodun and promptly got wet feet for my sins - another bloody core plug had gone!

When I checked the other core plugs they looked decidedly ropey so I bought a job lot and replaced all seven of them and refilled the cooling system yet again, hey presto no damn leaks finally!

I now thought it a good opportunity to run the wagon up temperature and see how she went [This is Mark speak for "I just wanted to hoon the damn thing around the garden sideways for a laugh"], anyway after carefully warming the beastie up, I started to stick my foot down and remember thinking that "blimey it seems to be wheel spinning easily today"

WRONG!

Forking clutch was sh*gged again and she was just spinning up at the flywheel! :beatdeadhorse5:

So I rather philosophically pointed it back at the garage and gave it enough rpm to get it there - as I arrived back at the garage the gods of "so you think your having a bad day (so far)" intervened yet again and as I got rather hot feet their cunning plan for me became clear, the heater matrix had just blown big style doh! :nopity:

The engine will be coming out again soon to do the clutch (it will give me a chance to clean the engine bay out properly after all) - I do have a heater matrix tucked away somewhere, so it may not be a big issue just an inconvenience.
