sasman wrote:nice one Julian at last another vectra out on track, i have got a few bits that mite be handy to you , a 3litre lower inlet manifold devider a set of 3litre cams pop those in should give you an extra 20-25 bhp they have been collecting dust for ages free to a good home if you can fit them.
How cool is that? 8)

Very generous Mark; another 20bhp will have to help right :)

Congrats :D

It's great to see another dedicated track car in the making.

I have an acquaintance from another forum who runs a Vectra challenge car . I know from seeing it that the suspension is quite trick, using bespoke pickup points at the rear however if you want to know if there's any tricks to make your car lean more towards challenge spec, just let me know and I'll ask him.

There is a friend of mine at wymondham, TJ Motorsport who i used to spanner for back in the day.
Used to run vectra challenge cars. I will give him a bell to see if he has any nice bits kicking around gathering dust.
I have to speak to him soon anyways to organise some coaching so will mention it then
Looks like its gonna be fun mate and you know your stuff so i am expecting to be reading good things from this one.

Just an update:

Got the cam belt done today and the strange thing is that after it was done the idle was at 1300rpm :o , now I am thinking WHAT HAVE I DONE  went through everything and couldnt see nothing wrong, then I noticed that the EGR valve was leaking gases, so poped around to my local Vectra guru on the estate and got a spair one off him, fitted it and hey presto it was back to normal.

God knows what happened to it, but I am just glad it happened now and not on the track.

Now a BIG thank you to Rob B and James breadvan, firstly to Rob for sending me the link for James seat he had for sale and secondly to James for the seat and even delivering it to me at work.

Thanks Guys, just need to get a harness now, just waiting on the big man

Rear seats have been removed and they weigh a ton so rather a lot gained there, apart from road tax I think its ready for the 16th....but will I be

Julian, I have a harness you could borrow until you sort something permanent out. Let me know if you want it and I will see what we can do about getting it to you. I have the eyebolts aswell if you need those too.

Many thanks for the offer NIk,
But I think I will see how the car goes on the 16th before I decide if the car is right for me and get the seat etc fitted for good.
