The three door was origenally built by Dean Shepard in 1990 from a bare shell,he used the car every day for work and modded it over the years untill 1996 when he made it 4x4.I bought the car off him in 1997 and me and my son used it for trackdays further moding it adjustable leda sus,roll cage plus lots more.The block cracked after useing nitrous so a brand new motorsport block was bought and a T4 turbo,moded head etc,430 bhp.The car was very little used but a straight cut gearbox came along so when it was fitted i drove the car for just 30 miles and the box went bang big time.It had the standard box in for years before this and never gave any probs.While it was in shepards haveing the box changed a buyer offered us a good price as he was building a focus and wanted the running gear out of the 3 dr.I know he took the engine out and put a std one back in then he sold it on.We then swapped the R1 yam and some mony for the skyline which we have spent a fortune on,we put it up for sale but after doing a trackday at brands in it my son wants to keep it now.My own favourite is the amg,its as fast as the vette to 145mph then the vette pulls away,we,ve run them side by side.Being 60 years old in a few months i still like mk1 lotus cortinas and race 105e anglias so i may sell something and buy a classic race car.
