The LS2 wasnt really about 8yrs ago when I decided what lump to start with and now its too late to change it without a complete re-work, but the RV8 based engines are very very light and its a challenge to get power from them, its not quite like the american stuff where you bolt on new heads, cam, etc, with the RV8 once you get to the power levels the TVR 5.0L is at your really on your own trying to device ways to get rid of the restrictions unless you have a LOT of cash (e.g.

Well as far as the RV8 lumps go the heads / cam on the 5.0L are as good as they get (they have bigger valves and are all hand ported, etc) and the torque is absolutely superb at around 350Ib/ft, but they well over quote the BHP, I think its supposed to be 340 but in reality its 280-300 as standard on the 5.0L. The main problem is the intake manifold/trumpet assembly and the ECU and ignition setup, its totally useless to be honest and an area where some real gains can be had quite easily which would put the power back to where it is quoted by TVR to be. The 5.0L eventually breaks the crank, as this is a little weak, its a time bomb apparently, but Rob at V8 Devlopments has designed a 5.5L that is superb, 375BHP and 420Lbs of torque at somewhere around 3000rpm!!!! I have one in a Chimera in my garage right now that Ive fitted an MS ECU to and tuned it all, it will spin the wheels in 2nd (235 tyres Bridgestone Potenza's) when it hits 3000rpm on a bone dry road! Im hopeing to get one next year for the Cobra if I can, I hope the tyres I have being a little larger will cope with it,

What a beautiful car, and time/money and effort well spent. I remember when my dad built his Ginetta it took him ages, but the smile on his face everytime hes drives it shows what it means :-D

Cobras are an awesome looking car, and the V* sound is :P

Do you go to any of the kit shows? I do like the Dax Rush aswell.
