The number of people I see posting with doubts of their abilities on lots of boards makes me think that there would be quite a demand for a low-cost sprint series, specifically for cars like ours, which because of the way the MSA categorise things, become uncompetative at MSA events.

I learn't how well I could drive by sprinting, and thats why I'll be using a different driver in my car if I enter T/A!

Great idea Bob, the entry level event, not getting someone else to drive ;)

They're going to probably put me in Tuner category anyway. Which in the RWD class this year was not too impossible to consider, but theres some serious powered cars going to be in the RWD class next year, so I'll have to tune the car's chassis response better by swapping out the bald headed drink soaked driver, and replacing with a younger more skilled driver. Its a little like swapping turbos - take the old laggy T-type out, use new quick reacting GT version in :-D

Depends who you are thinking of installing as driver though!!! ... maybe heading to moss side and advertising there may get you a fast driver :) - shame is when the race is over you car will be stripped and already sold for scag before you collect your prizes.

I was thinking more of using someone who is trying to build their event portfolio up a bit. It will be beneficial to me as I'll have a quick driver who can feed back on the setup of the car, and it will be good for them as they'll be getting a fairly public drive. The ideal will be someone in their early 20's who started racing Karts when they were 8 :-D

Same concept. A good number of the drift cars were driven by semi-pro drivers this year. The Tuskuba Super Lap that Time Attack is based on have pro and semi-pro drivers in tuners cars. The idea of GT Battle is to have an equivalent series in the UK, and not one that's a cheap version filled with enthusiastic Amatures (like myself :D).

What the likes of most of us need is an airfield, some timing equipment, legal indemnity papers, and cars setting off at 15second intervals on timed runs. Thats where skills can be honed and fun can be had. Trackdays while fun can't give you the feed back regarding times and lack the element of competition that a leader board can provide.

Easy enough to sort out. Would you see the event having a different layout/course for each time we visited? Say 6 different meets and 6 different layouts? I suppose in the light of day the circuits should try and cater for both light and nimble cars as well as bhp monsters. Circuit length 1.5 miles+ ? We may be able to do this sort of thing at a proper circuit you know......run off is less but the surface will be so much better. Only my thoughts

Okay, heres my thoughts (You did ask!).

Cars need to be in categories, the obvious is: FWD, RWD & 4WD. I don't think the MSA categories of engine size (below 1l, 1l to 1.4l, ..., over 2l) works in our case because we'd all be in the over 2l category. I'd be tempted to suggest power or power to weight categories, although this might not be workable, it would make the the playing field more level.

If the racing is point to point and you have a decent area to lay the track out in then it might be possible to replicate corner complexes from 'real' race tracks or go for something unique.

A track itself would be excellent, but wouldnt that push the price up?
