I don`t know if anyone else is going on this TD, first of the seson for me, if you are there look up the silver subaru 993, I will be with a mate but happy to chat.

Weather forecast is not good so I am very hopeful that the day will be on and not interupted by a wet circuit as it gets a bit tricky at the bottom of Hailwood Hill, still extra underwear should take care of that.

Best of luck Harry. I've not been there for a number of years but I'm sure you'll love it. Wet weather won't discourage the Impreza, just don't lift off that throttle sharply! ;)

I`ll keep that in mind Stuart, hate the smell of burning rubber: if it`s mine that is, like the look of the new wheels
Russ I am going with Dave to give the car a rest

Well the TD has been and gone so perhaps I can give a flavour of how it went

Venue
As with all MSV circuits the place was clean and tidy with spick and span garages, the Briefing was spot on and the Marshalling to the usual high standard we have come to expect, because this is a compact circuit excellent use was made of the blue flag particularly helpful when approaching Paddock hill and or joining the circuit.

There have been some improvements to the surface 1) the approach to Paddock Hill 2) Cooper Straight and 3) around McClaren and Clarke Curve. This is very new tarmac and is still "green" so grip can be variable particularly in sector 3

Cars

Car of the day was a beutiful GT40 looked massive in the rear view mirror or when passing it it`s so wide
Sound of the day (apart from my scoobie) went to an Audi RS4 just pipping the GT40
gaggle of caterhams, 2 Mini`s (why do they like to overtake just as you start to turn in?
Nice GT3 and a couple of other Porches. 3 Ginetas in race trim last years Clio Cup winner and a lone Radical and of course my Scoobie.

I had a wretched journey to BH the heater matrix decided to leak vapour into the car so the windows fogged up it`s a hell of a journey with no heater and the windows open

Still on with the day, the morning was very wet with the usual river at the bottom of Hailwood Hill but the compression set up through the change from down hill to up hill kept the tyres in contact with the track, brakeing required a delicate touch for Druids but gentle throttle on the approach to Graham Hill Bend, this gave me trouble all morning and just couldn`t seem to nail it at all. Cooper straight didn`t present any problems but care was needed through Surtees and McClaren. McClaren in particular threw up some difficulties with varing grip I had a couple of moments where there was really pronounced understeer and at other times the grip was immense.

I had my mate with me and he chose to explore the grass between Surtees and McClaren (So much for having raced Ferraris) still it was worth it to see him get a rollocking off the Marshalls.

As the afternoon wore on a dry line formed and speeds came up smoothness was still the order of the day but I found a new line through Druids and McClaren/Clarke Curve, this line scribed a smoother arc than the line I had been taught certainly use that agaain.

The only sad note on the day was a pretty big offf for the Clio quite extensive damage but fortunately no one was hurt.

If anyone is doing Brands in the next month or two do look out for the varying grip, I am sure it is ok if you can consitently keep on line but I am just not that good, the other thing I noticed was the amount of wear on the rear brakes I suppose this is down to the number of braking areas which are uphill which transfers the weight to the back of the car as opposed to the more powerul front, or it could be that the Brake Pads I got from Russ were old and knackerd a bit like me

That sounds like a decent day out Harry. I have spoken to a few friends this week about the luxury of driving to an event (rather than towing) Then you hear stories like the Clio mating with a tyre wall :) Awesome!

How was the attendance? Were the spaces available or was it fully subscribed?

Stuart, Driving to the circuit is fine if it is close say King`s Lynn to Snetterton or other local circuits but BH is a 320 mile round trip and bloody awful trafic on bottom of M11 and M25, if I had the luxury of choice I would go with towing

AS for attendance there was probably only 25-30 cars or so and because of the conditions the numbers on track were closely regulated with good seperation again down to martialling
