Sprints & tires

what do you guys use for sprints/hillclimbs etc, i have a set of R888`s already but was thinking by time these get up to operating temperature its all over, been recommended Kumho V70A but there a bit pricey

all depends what class your in, if you have a cage then 888's etc are fine but if your in road legal/road going then you will have to use road tyres like t1r's eagle f1's etc.. its all in the blue book what your allowed,
you may already know all this in which case ignore the above
gerry and mikeb use 888's in d8 and they seem to do alright :-D

Not sure on teh Scottish class system Duncan but down here, roadgoing class (full interior etc) need to run on proper road spec tyres, not R rated like the 888's and AO48's etc, the modified class (MSA approved cage required) then can run on fancy tyres.
If your in the latter class want ultimate grip then get some super soft Rally Intermediates, the chaps here run 888's and like them, thery are rumoured to be bringing out a softer compound for those later this year.

hmm dont know what class im going to be running in TBH i did plan on fitting a roll cage just as an extra safety factor or at least a removeable 4 point one in the rear but didnt know that fitting one ment moving into another class, bit of a daft rule is it not though if you want some extra safety you get moved into a more competative class hence more chance of bending it lol will need to give the blue book a looking over and do more research me thinks lol

You canb stay in roadgoing and have a cage mate, its just they are not mandatory in that class, soon as you go into modified class then you require a cage to pass scrutineering!
My Impreza was/is roadgoing but I have a FIA Safety Devices cage in it!

ahh, ok now im with you and i presume road going cars have to be driven from (and hopefully from :? ) events as well?

What the guys are saying is, if you want to run non standard road tyres, like 888s, then you'll be in a modified class and must have a roll cage. Down here and probably in Scotland, it's class D8 i.e. modified, over 2000cc, stripped out interior, etc.
You can fit a roll cage for standard classes and it's a good idea regardless, you must run on std. road tyres and keep the interior, etc.

thats a bit irish then isnt it, defeating the purpose of having a road going class if you trailer your car there and back
lol i havent even started hillclimbing yet and im whining about the rules lol :thumb: :whistle:
