Circuit Days Nurburgring trackday 4 Nov 08 8'24"!

Post by Tommy »

Chris took the 328i to Nurburgring earlier in the week and kept a 996GT3RS in sight throughout an entire lap! The video starts part way through a 8'27" and concludes with a 8'24". The R888's are now actually making use of the chassis set up. It's quite obvious to us now that the chassis was too stiff for the Hankook RS2 tyres.

Awesome :notworthy:

You and Chris must be delighted with the time mate? How easy did Chris find that?.........looked pretty steady.

Very delighted and I'm quite certain I can beat his time  Chris said most of his laps were high 20's and into 30's but in the videoed lap he was pushing to keep with the GT3. You can see near the end of the lap he has two oversteer moments (when the passenger pipes up  ).

I can see the time coming down quite a bit still with more knowledge of the track, of course, and more experience with the 888's. Chris was saying, and I can see for myself from the video, that the 888's are going to give us a whole new learning curve.

I was going to say a nice smooth no drama lap then ... you went through Wipperman  If you take the kerbs both sides it will smooth that out a lot and the entry to last right over the crest.

Great lap though - looks like you have good confidence in the car. Def more in it.

I would love to do the ring on a closed track day, the extra speed under the bridge and the lack of traffic, no bikes, lack of expecting a coach over a crest ! must be awesome :D :D

Cheers guys. I will pass on your words to Chris.

The car has always provided tons of confidence, and with the R888's I can't quite imagine how it's going to feel. It's such a shame I won't get to test them out until next season. Until then I'll keep watching all my youtube videos :D In fact I did that earlier and watched the first outing of the 328 when it was standard and at Bedford. My, it's come a long way!

Sorry I've put my sensible head on. I've spent too much this year already. It'll have to wait until next, unfortunately. Is Donington out of bounds next year because of F1?
