I've just had an email from Kevin from London Irish to say there are places available at their Lydden sprint and he thinks we're eligible as HCC members (he'll check). Anyone interested? Sounds like really good craic - both Sat and Sunday, live band, bbq, bar and camping Sat night, for

You can download the regs here:

Its tempting for the money, and its a great circuit. It doesn't appear to be in any championships tho so I may miss it as September will be and busy and Expensive month with Brands, Cadwell and another one at the end of the month.

Does indeed look good value, and they seem like a good bunch, from chatting to Kevin last year. Anyone else fancy this one? Should be good amount of tracktime, to properly learn the circuit.

Only problem with going to Lydden is that I'll miss the racing (bikes) I used to do there!

Regs arrived in the post today. It's a real shame as the London Irish helped make last year's HCC sprint happen by bolstering up the numbers.

I already have four events in August and can't justify a fifth. especially when it's so far from home and I don't even have a tent. Pity as with the bbq, live band and bar, it'd be a terrific weekend for

Russell - how did the Lydden sprint go?

Sorry guys, here's my mini report from the day.

I found it higly amusing that the London Irish Motor Club were organising their first ever sprint & it was going to be over 2 days; so had arranged for a Bar to be onsite all day 8) & they arranged their own food wagon which was of course selling....potatoes

There were some "intersting" classifications of cars to say the least
A 106 rallye in A0 running on Toyo 888's, aswell as a Cosworth powered red Mk2 escort which also has some very slick looking rubber for a car in B3

But it really didn't make any diffrence to my position in my class, so i'm not loosing any sleep.

there was no B2, they amalgamated it with b3, so in the class were; me in the Celica, a Renault Alpine, Audi A3, couple of Escorts, a couple of pug 205 1.9 gti's oh & an Evo X.

I went quite well (even if i do say so myself) after 1st timed run i was leading the class with mid 87's & the rest of the class the other side of 90 seconds.
Second timed run & the Evo X FQ320 put a quick one together posted a mid 86, i went a bit quicker but still in the 87's.
Third run & i went a tad quicker & got down to a 87.06 & the Evo got down to 86.04 & he took the class win & i held second spot.
Sadly no pots or speeches as it was a 2 day event & sadly i couldn't attend the sunday aswell.

There were some interesting entries as talking ot people London Irish typically do alot of rallying & so it was a bit of a pre season shakedown for some of them. It meant there were some interesting vehicles there:

Image
Lots of these mad Rage buggies, 150BHP, 600KG & sequential gear box  very very sideways!!! Not a bit out of shape by accidient, full blown chucking it at paddock corner & at the devils elbow....nutters!

Image
A full on rally Evo tha'ts run by Steve Hill. Air intakes are beacasue the rad is in the back....i guess so the front end can be dediacated intercooling the air.

Image
Engine bay in the rally Evo, you can just see some of the HUUAWWGE Turbotechnics turbo tucked down the front

Image
Evo X looking very sinister.

Image
I guess it's a speical "stealth" edition with everything done in black.

Image
Back looing as evil as the front. Notice it's gone to a twin exit exhaust ??

Image
Bad picture on my camera phone, but thoguht best ot include it as it will hopefuly satisfy you scoobie heads. Had the whole anti-lag pop-crackle-bang going on, but wasn't really geared right for a circuit.

Day ran pretty well, had about 50 entries & did long practice & 1st timed run before lunch, then 2 furhter timed runs after lunch, plus an open fun run, i only when out once, but there were people having 3 or 4 fun runs & eventually they closed the startline at about 4:30 as there was no one waiting to go out. Then after packing up the car it was very plesant to enjoy a cold pint from the bar before setting off for home.

Was a fun day & a great crowd & i will be keen to go if they organise events again.
