I received the HCC magazine today and although there's some mention of the North Weald srint, I can see nothing about the JISC.

Hi guys, apologies for not being around, really mega busy.
Spence has got all the possible events to hand and is sorting the possibilities now.
What would be a good number fo events? 10 with best 8 to count?
Pete the mag ed is a good guy but wasnt up to speed on the JISC before that issue came out. Without the JISC, HCC would be in difficulty, hence the negative tone of his commentary. You will notice that virtually all the actively sprinting HCC members are JISC competitors!
Date for your diaries, the awards night has been provisionally booked for Sat 23rd Feb (thx Gerry) 2008 at the Fairway Inn (thx again) in Rickmansworth. I can feel a JISC table happening. We have a provisional guest speaker that most of you will find interesting as well..................(its not the Blairs, far more interesting than that)

Will you be telling us which month before the event? That way you may get a few atendees.
Could that be the Fairway Inn in Rickmansworth or the Fairway in Ricky?

Just to explain the HCC / JISC connection!
The MSA requires championships to be organised by clubs with experience of the events - so only a handful of clubs in the South of England are eligible to organise such a championship, of which HCC is one (of many).
Being the competition secretary I have the ear of the HCC committee and can easily persuade them to run this kind of thing. I need to get the mag editor up to speed on the championship and providing better coverage - although I haven't yet had much success at getting those within the club more involved, I'll keep on at them for that...
If anyone wants to write an article this year for submission to the radiator, just send it in and we'll get it published!

The Birkett Relay Race is a lot of fun Andy (ESL) has competed twice, when it used to be run up at Snetterton, although it is held at Silverstone these days. I think we managed a class win on one of those years?
The racing members of Harrow Car Club put together a team from the club membership (and sometimes one or two guests from outside the club). It is a handicap race so there is really no limit to what can be out on the track - all cars must be closed wheels (open wheel / closed wheel cars are not allowed to mix in races) and have the mandatory safety stuff (roll cage and hand held fire ex minimum).
Because of the wide range of speeds of the cars (I think there could be as much as a 100mph speed difference at the end of Revett at Snetterton between the Austin 7s and the muscle cars!!!), you need a minimum number of races under your belt before you can compete - I think the minimum requirement is either a National 'A' race licence or 8 races experience on a National 'B' race licence. There are ways of getting these though - each year Harrow is eligible for the Eight Clubs races (which unfortunately were cancelled this year!!!) which can get you two races experience, then more experience can be gained through something like the RAF MSA grids. I think the Peterborough MC run general closed wheel race events that anyone can enter also.
I was going to post up about the race meetings this year but the cancellation of the Eight Clubs poured cold water on the idea. Hopefully it will be back next year with a vengence!
