well all i can say is we have probably just had our best trackday experiance to date ,
we had known of this date at snetterton for some time as some friends of ours were taking their caterham and we also knew some people doing the caterham
experiance day. we had decided not to go asmuch as our friends wanted us to i did not want to use the subaru anymore until it had the suspension and the geometry done, which was all well and good
until we went to the palmer audi race day at snetterton and had a pax lap in a vx220,,,,, and the demons within started to stir ....................................
do we don't we, shall we shan't we ...........decision made trackday booked on the tuesday before the sundays event and the bmw is the chosen vehicle!!
The bmw 325i is in standard form with a stripped interior and a pair of bucket seats which i fitted to do the drift nights in . In order to give us a fighting chance i decided on fitting some braided hoses ,
ebc red stuff pads front and rear, 15" toyo 888 and an under body x brace , this little lot was a challenge of its own to get it delivered and fitted before sunday, with some help from a freind and a
slighty unorthadox method of fitting the x brace as it came with no fitting kit !!! we were loaded and ready saturday evening.

The weather forcast was not perhaps the best so a 6am start was required in order to try and secure a pit garage ,we arrived at 7am to a cold and windy snetterton circuit and managed to get a garage ,
i unloaded the car and just gave it a quick once over then the major pi$$ taking started the others claimed my car was a topgear challege car ( could you buy a piece of sh** and use it on track )
then mrs fletcher was not happy and wanted her subaru to use because she was adaement she would not get on with the bmw , time to sign in and have some coffee i do believe...

With the briefing out of the way i had a quick word with stu then it was out for our sighting laps i was quietly confident about the bmw but this was the moment of truth as reliability was my main concern, we came in
after a few steady ish laps to check the car and stu gave me some tips on the tyres as i have no experience of them (thankyou), now i'm no racing driver and i'm not into data (at the moment) i gauge it basicly
on how much fun it is and boy it was fun the bmw was transformed from when i had used it on the drift nights it turned in and was very balanced through the corners never did it feel (out of control) and trust me i get stuck in.

Lunch was had in the tyrells restaurant which was superb as always.

we altenated the driving and mrs fletcher then apologised for the negative attitude first thing and now drives rather well ,so much so that the subaru is now second choice in it's current settings,
i gave my mate some pax laps whilst being followed by my other mate driving his caterham ,let's just say the mickey taking seemed to subside and the bmw silenced it's critics .........................................

The rest of the day went without any real incident other than some questionable driving etiquette!! and i am chuffed to bits at being able to drive a car which seems to suit my driving style and never missed a beat .

Glad your day finished, much as it started.....grins all around and the BM looking after you both very well :D

I swear by the Toyos. I think they are fantastic value for money and one of the best ways of enhancing a more track focused car. Next step will be stiffening the car so you take advantage of your new found grip. It's a slippery slope from there. By the way......you really should think of getting rid of some of that interior stuff. The sunroof has to go :thumb:

I take it the weather held for you? I was quite hoping that you guys had a shower or two just to show those Caterfield lovers that there is more than one way of getting around a race track.

I've had several comments about where you got your black number plates from too. Started something of a fashion item there mate ;)

yes the weather held for us but i was hoping for a light shower later on so i could do some damp/wet laps for back to back
comparison . you really do have to experiance the difference the 888 make first hand to appreciate them fully. 8)

i will now sell/break my e30 sport to fund some minor mods :-D :-D

cheers
