Just got back - what an amazing day. 8)

Great to meet Stuart (Bealo), I hope the passenger ride was good (sorry about putting a couple of wheels on the grass)

Superb to meet Maxx too and to have the pleasure of your company and instruction, it really was revealing and extremely helpful. Most helpful to chat about it afterwards to understand why you were saying what you were. Sorry if I was a little quiet but I like to really think things through and drive it in my head too. It was good to put a face to a name too :thumb:

I will write a full report later but suffice to say:

Stu - loved the passenger laps mate - it was emotional - the poise of the sierra shouldnt be underestimated but I think you are right, a slightly harder set up would stop the tyres rubbing. Fantastic driving and a wonderful sideways at the hairpin looking at the bales - well gathered

Andy - great last session tussling with you - two very evenly matched cars although it did get a bit boring having to wait for you :lol: Seriously though, there were parts where you made up time and bits I could pull away on. All in all............ superb !!!

Anyway, enough said - I need a drink

Yes, really enjoyed the day, great to meet you, Andy and Stuart. I enjoyed all my runs with you guys and I hope you all came away having gotten something from the day (if only a headache )

It was a little more fast-paced than i would normally be (only a little though) and it would have been great to have had an extra hour at the end (where did the time go!) to consolidate.

Gotta get my tea now, probably post more later ....

Just in.

Yes what a great day. The weather pulled through when it looked like raining first thing.

It was great to meet Dunc, Stu, Andy and Maxx.

The day started off with an early start where i met Cod and Mrs Cod at Yarmouth Train station at 5am.
We carried on to meet Duncan at travel lodge near Sutton Bridge but as Cod was driving like Miss Daisy i decided to up the pace (legally officer) with some over taking to make up time so we could fit in a coffee before meeting Duncan.
Unfortunately i got carried away and drove straight pass the Travel lodge (Dullard i know) I finally met up with the Cod's and Dunc and on we went to Cadwell.

On arrival We met up with Stu and Andy. As i said the weather didn't look good but as the day went on it turned hot, maybe too hot for the Turbo cars!!!!!

I got my first passenger laps with Stu who expertly threw the big Sierra around Cadwell. I was amazed at the cars handling and the way it turned in. I was enjoying the ride but made Stu laugh by trying to press the invisible passenger brake pedal a couple of times.

Next up for me was Andy and his scooby. Andy seemed as if he had a screw loose at first with the way he was throwing his car around but i had nothing to worry about as it was soon obvious that Andy was a top driver and knew what he was doing.

I then went out with Cod who slowly but surely turned in a good few lapps and i think he learned alot and throughly enjoyed himself. He did scare me a bit and when i told him he said i know and i scared myself aswell (nutter)

The laps in Duncans car were fantastic, i learned a quite a lot from his lines and braking technique. Very smooth.

Thanks to you all for the rides.

All in all a great day with some great new friends, i'm gutted i couldn't take the CSL on track (nail in tyre) but there is always next time.

As Duncan said Cadwell is a fantastic track, and not as scary as i thought it would be.

I have a bit of video of all of the cars but i'm not sure how to get it onto the computer. Can anyone help? The tapes are mini DV......

Do you mean jumping to advanced subjects when you say fast paced ? - It didnt seem alien at all apart from my comfort brake into charlies 1 and aiming for an edge of the track at Gooseneck that you cant see. With the afternoon sessions, it was good to practice the bits I was doing wrongly previously with new found knowledge and try and hook those up with bits that I was doing okay

(I must admit it did scare me the first time you grabbed the steering wheel and aim me what felt like being off track :lol:)

Bealo, thanks for the kind words on the smoothness - I do try and be smooth but as I learned today, sometimes it helps to provoke inbalance - just need to keep unlearning that...where appropriate to create weight transfer. I think I was getting it right (or more right) at the end of the day (Barn was a lot quicker as a result and felt better)

An absolute cracker of a day out with the boys. I'll do a full write up wih pics tomorrow but my 4am start has left my batteries a little low :wack:
Nice to meet Stu and Malcolm. Stu never stopped laughing all day and Malcolms advice was very useful. Just wish I had not succumbed to 'want to go home' syndrome quite as quickly so that I may have been able to try out all of the new found tips! Another time....momre tomorrow.
PS~ great to see COD gaining in confidence throughout the day (apart from the wishy washy ) and Andy @ESL....Christ man you can peddle :thumb:

Brilliant day. Just back from treating the misses to a posh dinner due to neglect by motorsport (and a sneaky beer with Ren).

One of the highlights for me was getting the benefit of Maxxs' experience. I've never had instruction before and he has given me some fresh perspectives to work with as well as some specific Cadwell tricks. Can you let me know what sort of lateral g the RE070s logged Maxx?

The other was going out for a convoy blat with Dunc. As Maxx said, we approach the same thing (trying to go quick) from different angles and it was a treat seeing his smooth style from close quarters but I had to pedal bloody hard to keep up.

Gerry - we had suspected this but I can confirm that Dunc is right on the pace (and on 1b's, so in your group). I can see you two duking it out for honours in modifieds.

Nice to meet Cod and his missus and cool to have Bealo along, sorry if you thought I was unhinged but it seems to be the majority verdict . Looking forward to seeing the vid.

The only thing I didnt tick off my list was a pax ride in the Big Mans Sierra, everyone else came out with a nervous grin and I wanted some of that. Next time!

Not that there was any real doubt, but it's good to know our illustrious leaders can drive a bit
