I had a really good day at Woodbridge & yes I did have a lot of fun! Scared myself silly fishtailing up the runway, couldn't hold it & span round to be faced with several very large cars bearing down at some speed!
Went a bit slower for the rest of the day - instead of getting a feel for the new engine in the car, I drove it like the old tired engine was still there & ended up spinning - lots.
The placard for "TYRE SQUEAL" could have been invented for my car (the tracking is way out) but it never got shown once. There was one unfortunate crash of a Westfield (?) into two large straw barrels which looked painful - but I think he had a mechanical failure rather than driver error.
The rain stayed away until about 3pm where it poured it down for 20 minutes & we came in to find that our Le Mans Spyker umbrella, which had been sheltering our laptop & stuff, had been nicked! Thankfully I stormed around looking angry and it was handed back quite promptly.
I'd broken down on the way & had to stop at Asda near Ipswich as the MAP sensor ECU link had corroded (from the Le Mans rain). Scott had forgotten half of his soldering iron so fashioned a rather impressive setup from a 15p toothbrush, spare bit of wire from under my seat, an inverter & a battery to solder a new link in. Wow.
Great to meet Jazzymonkey & Dangerous - pity I didn't get around to giving passenger rides - I went around with Scott in his 205 quite a few times - mental - and also Steve in his Lotus Sunbeam (wow) that I knew from Pistonheads.
My next track day is North Weald this Friday - can't wait.
