Track day virgins.......special event

Post by Stuart »

After our recent day out I started thinking about organising an event purely for people that have never done track days before. Do you guys think there may be the scope for this whether it's other halves, younger drivers, more cautious drivers etc There may be plenty of users on here that would have a go if they didn't feel like a fish in a barrel.

I would appreciate your feedback and this will be additional to the normal events not instead of.

Great idea Stuart :thumb:

Could we do this at one of the summer evening meets with more experienced track day people offering to guide/advise from the passenger seat?

Certainly can mate. What we need now is some feedback from those that may feel inclined to do this sort of event.

Yeh, I think that is a great idea - Jo would be right up for it ... especially if you time it for her having the MR2.

Cheers Kev.....lol

To be honest I am happy doing a trackday with the rest of you guys.

If one of the sessions is done with maybe 30 mins - 1 hour for newbies.

As I have always said I'm not scared of taking the car on the track, I've been more scared of the bill to fix it if it breaks !!

Just my opinion though.

All sensible input is appreciated.

Our hope as a forum is that we can encourage people to use their performance cars in a responsible manner. Wednesday proved that responsible does not have to be boring or expensive. Keep it coming.

i think it would be a good idea if on the track if you had more sighting/pace car laps so they could pick up the lines, breaking points, turn in pionts etc
, and kept a certain distance between each car for that time just incase there was any spins etc, just an idea

What I liked most of all about snett - was the limited number of spaces ... 40 is a great number ...

when I was out, there was no one behind me and very rarely anyone in front of me ... but then I'm a sneaky bugger and sit in the pit counting the cars out and in :) .... and if I see it a little busy ahead, I duck in - drive along the pit and go out again ...

My only real problem with the idea Stu, I'm one of those people who find things to worry about when I can't sleep - if someone who was really unsure took us up on the offer, went for it .. and then bopped their car - I would feel a wee bit guilty - I know it's there choice .. but I feel I've kind of been involved in making them do it ...

If Gareth goes out and destroys his car on his first session .. I will feel bad .. that's after I've stopped laughing mind (only kidding G) ...

As I was explaining to Rachel last night, there is no way that she will be anywhere near the limits of the car before her bottle goes and even slightly off line there she cant hit anything.

Gareth wont destroy his car - if his car cant do 20 laps of snetterton at the pace that he will be going then he needs to change it for something that can drive for 40 miles without breaking down.
