Sorry Gerry

Well, what a day, got up at 6am to sunshine and it being dry, outside temp was circa 1 degrees, so set off to North Weald. As I was going down the A11 just before the M11 it started to snow, and the further south i went the worse it got, as I was nearing junction 7 on teh M11 the outside lane was partually white with snow/slush!!! :o :o

I was thinking, crikey this will get cancelled but as I was nearly there i continued on to the airfield, when I arrived everyone was there but it was basically blowing blizzard :o :o

So, went a signed on and found out they were waiting for the MSA scrut to come and view the course as it was pretty slushy etc. At 9.30am we got the all clear although the course still had a small amount of snow in places it was basically just a very wet track.

First practice run was fun, very slippy and found that the Evo is pretty good a doing very big drifts!! Quite a lot of people got a wrong route on this run due to multple track layout changes last week. Basically it was the B19 course but the bottom round about was turned inot and mini autotest bit with some 1st gear messing about!

So, after that first run I was surprised to be quickest with John Start a knats cock behind me then a reasonable gap to the others in B19, there were 2 cossies, Bill in his immaculate GT3, another chap in a ST205 GT4 and some TVR things.

2nd Practice saw me commit a bit to much into the first chicane and I ran out of talent and spun, then contined and did the rest of the lap to gain more of a feel of the conditions, basicaly the concencus was it was seriously slippy, it was just wet but due to the low temps and the surface it was full drifting spec out of all the corners!

Andy Walsh was the best to watch with his full rally style in his Impreza. Although his times weren't counting as he was meant to run his elise but it was in bits.

John 2nd practice saw him outbrake himself i think he said and then stall, so our times weren't brilliant.

Also Trevor (TK) turned up to watch, was good to see him, although i could tell he was gutted not to be running.

After lunch was the first timed run, off I went but on the exit of the first chicane managed to just clip a cone (rollocks :x ) but I think this made me attck the rest of the course with gusto, and that combined with me getting to grips with the Evo I did a time of 109 with the 5 seconds so it was a real 104 seconds, John did a 107, with I think Andy Walsh on a 108.

So it was all down the last run, gulp. I was kinda nervous as I knew I needed to keep it neat as John would be going for broke to try and pip me and the track was starting to dry.

Outcome was unfortuntely John had a issue and oveshot a gate at the bottom of the course so had to reverse and continue, but I managed a 103 and FTD :D :D

Pretty chuffed with that although the field of contenders were slighty lower with no Kim, Andy (ESL) or Trevor (TK), with them there I think the outcome could be been totally different.

Roll on the next one :D :D

Cheers Gerry, look forward to seeing you out and competing soon. When is the car going to be back in business.

heard yesterday Mike Blackmore's car has now blown up its 3rd 2.5 engine, no idea why tho, but it seems his power output has gone slighty mental, it is rumoured that it will be running circa 460bhp and near 500 lbs ft :!: :!:

That's too much info Logan :) Still, so long as it keeps blowing I may stand a chance :D

Hoping to finish the car today, ready for mapping tomorrow.

All a bit eleventh hour though

Thanks Andy, although the weather was shocking it was good fun having a play with the new car in relative safety :!:

Just hope the next event is sunny and warm, had enough of freezing my kahoonas off most Sundays :!:
