What stops you doing Track Days ?
As far as dinging the car is concerned, at the SOC trackday last February, as far as I can remember there were no casualties from that.
Mechanically tho there were one or two, but as has been said before, if it breaks, it was probably going to anyway. (depending on the amount of abuse you give it) The only real problem I had after the Snett day in Feb was that my brakes were shot, but they were not brilliant before so that was only to be expected. That shouldn't be an issue now though with the 33GTR Brembos and Project Mu discs and Nismo pads etc.
I do however sympathise with the fact that alot of our cars are daily drivers and "any" time off the road is very bad news.
Although mine is not really a daily driver, it is the only car that we can all fit in as the kids won't fit in Sarahs Rex, therefore if it is off the road we cannot all go out together which isa real pain in the arse. So if I were to "break" the car at a trackday it would result in severe slappings being issued because at the moment we don't have the cash to spend on repairing it. especially this close to Xmas.
Things may be different next year tho as we are thinking of getting Sarah a "family" car. Don't panic, not a mondeo or anything but something like an Evo II or III. This would then get rid of the problems above.

I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up 



The main things that has stopped me doing more track days this year are money, as I HAVE to buy track insurance with what my car owes me now, although I only insure it for the purchase price. Once you add up the insurance, fuel (two and a half tanks @ Snetterton last Feb) brakes and tyres, it all adds up.
The other main problem I have is the loud Titanium exhaust and the screamer pipe from the turbo :roll: It's so annoying when you have paid out for evcerything, only to get Black flagged for too much noise. I am trying to address the situation though and the screamer pipe is being plumbed back into the exhaust system.
I have considered buying a cheap track car and not bothering about insurance, rather than risk the Skyline.

I agree Ben, I have learnt so much about my car by taking it on track. personally i would do more than maybe 2 a year including santa pod etc if i had a nice big comfy shogun and trailer to tow the thing there.
i did a session on silverstone at TRAX just by chance. luckily i took my helmet with me!!
the agro started when i had to find a mate to put all my sh*t from my boot into his.
subs, amps, stuff bought while there, steering wheel lock, booster cusions etc etc.
then it was thinking about all the ancillieries like oil etc.
while i was going round there was one corner i nearly fluffed up on.
this didn't bother me until i thought about how i was going to get my car and 2 of my 4 kids home if it was un-roadworthy!!
i don't really think about damage otherwise you wouldn't drive at all.
there are a lot of people who have the cost issues, me included.
i remeber poor old nigel at the febuary meet at snetterton, he got a few good laps in and then POOF!! a huge plume of smoke. it turned out to be a piston ring iirc. he then had to wait for the recovery vehicle to take him home, quite a long way from what i remember.
if that was me and i had a trailer, i could still whatch everyone else and leave at a decent time knowing i still have the shogun taking me home.
i feel lucky to be so close to most of the british circuits
