Wets.

With the circuit having a deliberately mixed surface with different mu rated areas to test grip levels, I would play it safe. You can always drop the pressures if you need more grip.

Good luck. Keep us posted mate.

Oh well, definetly looks like it'll be wet and my car still has its DZ03's on! Doh! Looks like a swift wheel change in the morning.

Russ, there are 4 in our class. 3 evo's and a scooby.

Shame you boys won't be there.

What a crackin day, apart form the freezing wind and rain in the morning!!

Morning was wet so both myself and Mark were on our Goodyear F1's as the track was very slippery. Lots of stoppages for spins and a few unlucky people hitting tyre barriers etc!

If it had stayed wet then myself or Mark would of been on for FTD as we were 1st and 2nd overall!!!! But it then stopped raining and through the first timed run before lunch people kept getting quicker and quicker. So at lunch I decided to have a change of tyres to my DZ03's and Mark put his 888's on.

First run after lunch we went out and as Mark said before we were 200ths apart!! Him on a 71.40, me with a 71.42!!! How close! He definetly had me worried, and very impressive as it was his first time there!

So, it came down to the last run, do or die! I decided to go for it, and pushed really hard! And decided to try and be neater through the low grip tarmac corner they have as for my previous runs I went in too hot and was very sideways which I think was loosing me time!

Anyway, I ended up taking just over 2 seconds off my time and had serious adrenlin shakes afterwards!! Unfortunetly Mark pushed a bit to much and overcooked the first corner, I think if he hadn't we would of been very close again!! So it ended up with me on a 69.11 and Mark on a 71.17, and then John Start was only a couple of tenths from Mark.

Top result and I was chuffed, Mark is seriously pushing me on which is fun, and he is definetly getting quicker! Good stuff.

Other news was that Baz is a complete nutter!! He unfortunetly had a slight incident with the tyre barrier on the last run, the car didn't look too bad. But his previous run saw him have a massive Spin through the Senna Esses which I thought would of slowed him down but he certainly went for it again on the final one!!

Roll on the next one!!

Sounds like a great day and I know you relish the challenge of some close competition. All of those sneaky practice laps been paying off then? :)

Haha, no practice laps for me, I don't have a Lotus test licence. That would be good!!

Haha! I did indeed have a slight tyre-wall visit, there was no more damage other than a few scuffs that weren't already there from the car on A-frame jack-knifing on a wet roundabout with diesel spill on the way there in the morning! Managed to make it through scrutineering etc, andthe fact that it was already damaged gave me an excuse to push a little harder really, Couldn't seem to get any heat in the rear tyres once i changed over to the A048's, hence the spin and then massive tank-slapper-then tyre-wall incident!

The first timed run, still on the F1's was my only decent run, with a 77.3 or something, as Logan said i had a spin on the 2nd timed run, although was set to be a quick time otherwise, 80.4 with the spin, if only i hadn't... Then the 3rd run was the tyre-wall visit!

Tbh i was only having a little battle with myself, as i really had no chance against the 2 Westerhams ahead of me in the class, one got FTD, ridiculous! A bit pissed off about the car, but still, came home with the 2nd in class trophy, and still enjoyed myself despite the weather and issues! :)

Well done guys. Glad to hear you had a good time.

Sorry to hear of your little escapade with the tyre wall Baz but welcome to the club  :D

Crikey Baz, that's why you were late and you had a missing indicator lense!!

Glad you still enjoyed it and the car wasn't too badly damaged, you were seriously trying!!! Looked awesome!

Looking forward to the pics as there should be some good shots!
