Interestingly based on Dunks breakdown

I have done 5 or so trackdays.

The cost has been 1 set of Bridgestone RE02's.
One twin plate clutch (Self inflicted failure - 5 QTR's back to back)
Stone chips on my once immaculate front

And that is it!.

Current car just isn't up to the job since I fried the engine in the SX :x

Otherwise it's only ever justifying the cash.

Just for fun I managed 200 track miles back in September with no real problems even when lapping hard for 25 miles at a time, then the damn car dies when driving home from work :x :x :x

I will be taking in part in some track days next year without a doubt. My only limiting factor is time off (I'm a shift worker) and money. Running an EVO as a daily driver isn't cheap! To then accelerate the wear and tear doing track days stretches my wallet even further. I also do a driving holiday each year through Europe which eats into my EVO fund, but its worth every penny.

Fear of bending the car doesn't come into it for me as I believe you are more likley to do damage driving hard on the public road. I know people who drive like lunatics on the road but wouldn't contemplate taking part in a track day for fear of wrecking their pride and joy :?

Me too, and to be honest I think it's more dangerous / risky driving to the track day!.

yep agree with that, have now stopped using my 750 on the road because after riding it on track and realising how far away the limits are its no fun at all at legal speeds.....................

and i do generally consider i'm safe and reasonable when it comes to road riding

I think the main point about trackdays are that the traffic only goes one way - you are not breaking the law - you only have to drive to 'your' limit and really just keep watching your mirrors.

If you car is going to break - it was going to break anyway - ok I admit with road driving my car barely breaks a sweat, as opposed to track time where she's gets a bit warm, the brakes smoke and the tyres become sticky.

You will never be able to experience your car properly on the roads - if you think you do, then you are a nutter and flaunt the law. Plus now that i've been out on the track, the road is purely for getting from AtoB

Absolutely. I couldnt agree more.

Treat the track day like the fast road drive but with the knowledge that:

a) everyone is heading the same direction
b) there are no drain covers, manholes or holes in the road that are going to whack your supsension
c) you are within the law
d) there are no pedestrians or cyclists
