Having decided to book a space each on the trackday we got up at some unearthly hour to embark on our journey , destination "Cadwell Park". After driving through what seamed like Lincolnshire's answer to tornado alley i had vision's of needing a boat rather than a car but was pleasantly suprised when the sun started to come up and the circuit appeared damp rather than flooded .Wheels changed ,forms filled in,bacon roll and tea consumed ,briefing done . The sighting laps gave a good indicator as to what to expect grip wise, treat it with respect and keep off the grass at all costs.

I went out in my highly modified track preped focus which didn't appear to suffer too much with the damp conditions and was a bloody good laugh around this tight and twisty circuit which does prove that you can do trackdays on a budget .I gave Lee a few pax laps and eventually managed to get enough grip to take copice flat which transformed the speed on the park straight.

After lunch i had a couple of sessions in the Bmw , I had enlisted the services of Matt from Tracktoys to monitor my tyre temps and pressure's to give me some idea as to whether my suspension/geo settings were giving me a consistant temps across the tyre . Now the focus was fun but the Bmw was just ***ing awsome to say i was happy with it was a major understatement .The tyre data showed it was giving me a consistant temp across each tyre ,result.

It was good to catch up with a few folks but the day passed so quick ,roll on Brands .

Nice videos Russ

Great write up Fletch; certainly painted a picture, and one that makes me sick that I wasn't there :)

Tell me more about this Focus; 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0? Any changes to the brakes, suspension or weight yet?

What sort of pace were you holding Jason? (What sort of cars were you lapping similar too?) Do you remember what speeds you attained going into the left hander on the start finish straight, and also up the hill on the long straight section??

Hiya, well what a great day that was, I really enjoyed myself, was my first time at Cadwell Park and had been trying to get up there for some time now. I drove up from Kent the night prior and crashed at a B&B (thanks opentrack for discount), however my SATNAV took me off the A1 to early and put me into the desolate country lanes of Norfolk, I drove up the B15 via Boston...great drive though at night.

Any way back to Cadwell, I was driving the Audi RS4, I was really surprised how well she handled seeing how narrow the track is, however I disintegrated one of my brake pads!!! I met a few of you that day, thanks for putting me into this forum. There was some fantastic cars there, and over all great track protocol and etiquette!

Thanks to opentrack.

Sonny

I know porsche design their cars to look the same from the front and back, but surely the marshals should have stopped him before he got this far!

It's all relative Arron;

1) How much room for error was there if you lost control?
2) How fast is your car and how much grip does it have?
3) How consistent were you?

Perhaps more importantly
4) How big was the silly grin you had?

Don't worry about lap times or attained speeds buddy. Old buggers like me like to know pointless facts like that to compare apples to oranges ;)

112 as a speed can be awesome or total shite depending on the answers to 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Just make sure you grin. The rest will follow :D
